the allergen is an oil. so after the poison ivy dies, it will dry up over time.

if you touch it before its dried up, yes, you will get a rash. but after all the oil is dried up, its just like any other dead plant..

Yes, the chmical is on the plant still, Once i caught poison ivy all over my body. It can also travel through the air

Yes! I've made that mistake before. You can also get poison ivy from mulch because the tree that they ground down for the mulch may of had poison ivy on it. I learned that the hard way, also. =)

Yes. The urushiol (the chemical that causes the rash) can remain active for years even after the plant is dead.

Yes since the oil is still on it. Even worse if you take the dead dried-out plant and burn it the smoke can give you irritating blisters in your lungs which is a major problem.
