The Bible does not say that. The King James translation of the Hebrew "nephilim" in Genesis 6:4 is a regrettable one. There is still debate among scholars as to exactly what nephilim refers to. The term is only used one more time in the Old Testament (Numbers 13:33) and this reference is to normal people of powerful stature. The best interpretation of Genesis 6:1-3 (the offspring you refer to) is that men and women in general were having children and the population of earth was increasing. "Sons of God" ("bene Elohim") is used elsewhere in the Old Testament to refer to men in general. The reference in Gen. 6:1-3 has no direct relation to the nephilim of verse 6. Scholars do have many different ideas about the nephilim and the many issues this difficult passages raises can not be explored here. Suffice to say the nephilim were human beings who were renowned for their physical stature, exploits, and leadership.

I suppose it depends on how you interpret it. Here is some ideas:
It'sinteresting to note that the original Hebrew word "Nephilim" which is translated "giants" in this verse can simply mean "a bully or tyrant" (Strong's Concordance).
Since the "sons of God" are the people on earth that serve and follow the Lord, it would make sense that "the sons of men" or "the daughters of men" could be a title for the wicked people that don't serve God. Does the Bible support this idea? Yes it does; In Genesis 11:5, those who had rebelled against God to build the tower of Babel were called "the sons of men" (NASB & RSV) or "the children of men" (KJV). In the Psalms, the wicked enemies of David were sometimes called "the sons of men" (Psalm 4:2 & Psalm 57:4).

Nephilim means, according to Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary ... (Gen. 6:4; Num. 13:33, R.V.), giants, the Hebrew word left untranslated by the Revisers, the name of one of the Canaanitish tribes. The Revisers have, however, translated the Hebrew gibborim, in Gen. 6:4, "mighty men."
Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephilim which describes the Nephilim as well as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sons_of_God which describes the Sons of God.

Yep, the offspring were called "geba", which means "giant". They were a people of large stature.
This is why God sent the flood in Noah's time; to rid the Earth of the influx of those hybrids. You can read of the Angelic Beings who left their habitations and came here to mate with human women, in the only Chapter of the Book of Jude.

Not angels.
"That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair"
Now that may throw a hitch in your theology

Fundies will tell you that it was fallen angels. Goliath and his siblings were among the plus-sized offspring of fallen angels and human women.
