I'm not a JW but I have read some of their literature. I recall a drawing of a good JW woman putting a leaflet delivered to her door straight in the trash can without looking at it because (as the caption said) it was 'apostate' material. I have also read bits warning them that the Internet has 'apostate' sites full of lies about JWs. Sounds like they're running scared, to me. The truth has nothing to fear from either error or lies.
But it's good that so many JWs are using Yahoo! Of course, hardly any of them are likely to check out links provided (though they constantly refer others to their own approved JW site!) But it works both ways, you know. There's a lot of truth in what the JWs say, but here and there are sprinklings of error and, before you know it, you've got a doctrine that is a million miles away from what the Bible actually says. One case in point: JWs admit that Jesus said, "Unless you are born again you cannot see the kingdom of God" but by the time they're done, they say YOU need not be born again. You can be saved without that happening! So people have to use their God-given intelligence to sift out the truth from the error on the JW website. But I've never noticed a Christian warning people NOT to look at the JW website!

Some of the content from former JWs and critics is vitriolic, but on the other hand as you point out, there is some content that is thought provoking. The organization places great emphasis on retaining it's "sheep". In fact they even classify their adherents and encourage them to be sheeplike instead of goatlike or some other barnyard parable. The organization does this because they realize that they stand to lose many followers if they exercise their intellect and natural curiosity. In order to keep the lemmings falling over the cliff, they must have them focused on the leader(s).

Did they sway you as you indicated they did. But with a untrained person you can take bible truths and mix them with lies, and they seem correct or possible, and this is the deception that the devil plays on untrained people.
You have to remember that Jehovah Witnesses are like other people in general and some are newer in their faith.
But the more the scriptures are studied; The more understanding people gain.
Are you versed in the bible enough to know what Jehovah plans for the earth and how you fit into his plans?
Do you know what the Kingdom is?
The point I am making to you is, a person new to what scripture says can be swayed by false doctrine and teachings.
If you personally want to test a thought and you are reasonable ask a question and see if a scriptural answer can be explained to you that you could agree with?
Those people out there in Internet world that put down God's thoughts in a twisted way, will answer for their efforts ,in as much, that they will reap what they sow. If person sows a thought and that thought causes another person to loose out on life, then they too will loose.
If you are an honest hearted person then you will see the truth as Jehovah God revels it,and you will understand.

It is funny that some people pick on mormons, jehovah's witnesses, or scientology, when christianity and islam are at least as silly and far more pernicious.

You are correct, they will not let anything sway them...they believe that anyone and anything not having to do with them, is "worldly" and a child or product of Satan. They may look at the sites, but they will only see it as something Satan has created to make them look bad. It is so incredibly sad. They need prayers.

I have review the so called apostate websites, against JW's, and I tell you what, these people are so easily overthrown using nothing more than a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance and a KJV1611, that it is really something that the apostates would really believe that they could dissuade a believer from the obvious and simple truth.
