All religions worldwide have its own detractors and defenders. Don't think it happens only with catholic church, also wit the rest of religions, these discrepancies have caused the cruelest wars among humans, let's mention crusades when catholic and Muslims almost got the extinction of their armies in the XII an XIII centuries just for conquering Jerusalem. There was no tolerance on those times either now, both religions hate the other band up to the death.
Of course to call for respect among religions is wise, but the roots of their beliefs are so deep that nowadays is not a matter to believe or not in God, today is a matter of power and economical interest and that makes irreconcilable the coexistence among peoples.
If God listen my prays, (free believer) he should send to the earth population something so serious like the Universal Flood to teach the people to love each others, and that would be the price we must to pay.

Doesn't respect religious freedom? Are you kidding? The Catholic Church is one of the biggest protectors of religious freedom.
You are free to believe whatever you want, but just because you believe something doesn't always make it true.

I am a Catholic and I am happy to be able to be so without being killed for what I am. Granted, some pissant bigot might insinuate that Catholics are all "child boffers" because of of a few idiot bishops and the pedophile priests they protected, but as religious oppression goes, that doesn't even really qualify.
Our responsibility as Catholics is to be more accepting and loving of others than they are of us. Getting offended over ill-informed cheap potshots is counter-productive. Don't take the bait.
And don't forget that it is often that we Catholics are the biggest source of our own bad press.

I was shocked by the number of people on here (mostly Fundamentalists) who post hate filled and inaccurate "questions" as a way to discredit the Catholic church. Even when I point out their errors and give them citations to check for themselves, they continue to spread the same lies. I really believe they are taught these lies at church and are either afraid or unable to see another viewpoint or admit that they are wrong.
BTW- I'm not Catholic, I'm just not ignorant of their beliefs.
Ex- Catholics do Not worship Mary or saints, the pope NEVER said that and many baptist ministers have also molested children. The Southern Baptist Convention had 6 known child molesters on their name roll and didn't take their names off until forced to do so by protests.

Because they say and think they are the only Christian church, but don't act like they are, because most of them are not. The pope and you don't get to decide if you are going to heaven, only God does, through faith, not through works (Ephesians 2:4-9)And by the way, they do pray to marry, I know because I belong to a family full of Catholics. That is called idol worship.

It depends on where you live. Assuming that you live in North America, it's predominantly Catholic, or Christian religions because of the majority races and culture. Then a person of different religious views would have to get other people to tolerate their unique religion. It would be different in say japan where a Japanese person would have to tolerate people in their country that are catholic.

I tolerate everyone.
My church says: We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

Pam T,
Catholics do not pray to St. Mary nor do we worship any idols. We worship only
God and pray only to God. Who taught you such nonsense.
