What else would cause breakouts?

Sorry, I don't click on links. However, there has never been a proven link between smoking and acne. The studies that were done showed conflicting results. All you can do is quit smoking (if you do and are asking for that reason) and see if it does make a difference for you.

Contrary to what you may have heard, there is also no proven correlation between acne and certain foods such as chocolate and fried foods.

While the exact cause of acne is unknown, the following are thought to be major factors:
androgen hormones (cause sebacious glands to enlarge and increase oil production...common in puberty)
estrogen
familial tendency
bacteria that normally exists on the skin
certain medications
cosmetics or moisturizers with an oil base
environmental pollutants
