Gooks of all categories were printed only after the printing machine was invented by Gutenberg or somebody some thousand years or back.that does not mean that the first religious book printed after the machine was invented was the oldest religious book. The four vedas ar the ones that are oldest religious psalms .They were transmitted from one generation to another through the oral tradition. The very reason for the practice of conveying messages in poeticc form is that they cn be memorized easily and passed on from one gen ration to another easily .Works in the form of prose cannot be committed to memory exactly and easily .The four vedas Viz,the Rig ,theYajoor , the Sama and theAharva vedas ar the oldest religious works in the world

The oldest religious book in the World hasn't yet been discovered by archaeologists. Maybe it will never be discovered.
I was inclined to believe that the Rig Veda was the oldest. Now I am eager to think that the beautiful text "The Epic of Gilgamesh" (3rd millennium B.C.) may be the oldest so far discovered.

Nobody will ever know for sure. The Vedas is not a religious book, nor are Hinduism and Buddhism religions. Westerners just like to stamp religion on this philosophy or way of life.
I imagine whatever existed or if there was a God long ago the people of India had a great encounter that influenced the Vedas. If you study Jesus closely, then you will be left to wonder if he too was inspired by the Vedas.

The oldest religious book,( that was and still is a science book), is called "The Book of the Law" which God Himself gave to Moses 3500 years ago. This book contained instructions that were becoming forgotten by the Hebrews between the time of Noah and Moses,(that's the main reason Moses was picked by God to reestablish these,( now once again almost forgotten), laws. These laws are in the first five books of the Bible,Torrah and also( in much less detail), the Quran. They are also found in The Dead Sea Scrolls, which I believe is the oldest writings found so far.
