From experiance.
I've tried to work out in my living room and I have carpet so I didnt put my shoes on. and result for that is not good at all.. I feel more comfortable working out in my shoes. I recommend wearing your shoes. for support and balance.

you should wear shoes for shock absorption for the activity. it will prevent some foot injury even though you're indoors/on carpet.

you don't have to wear shoes while exercising at your home if it makes your comfortable you can wear them if you would like.
