My 3 year old daughter started preschool in March. I hardly ever had a problem with her listening and following directions. Since she has been in school, I have to ask her several times to stop doing something. She will stop for a few minutes, than starts up again. Or if I ask her to help me with something, she acts like she doesn't hear me. I am wondering if this is a common problem when they start preschool, etc...PLEASE HELP ME!!

I have also considered getting her hearing checked, but not because she doesn't listen, because when I talk to her, she often will reply back with 'huh' or 'what did you say momma' and I am speaking in a normal voice.

It's probably not a bad idea to have her hearing checked (it was a requirement for my granddaughter before the pre-school would even admit her. She also had to have a well checkup), but she's probably just being "3". In other words, she's testing her boundaries. It's normal behavior, but as long as you're consistent, it will pass. Give lots of positive reinforcement when she does what she should.

Sounds like she is learning bad habits from other kids in her class. The teacher may also have problems disciplining the children in her class.
You may want to follow her for a few days in preschool if you can. This way you can observe the way she and the other children interact and how the teacher treats the kids. If the teacher isn't a good disciplinarian or you don't agree with her teaching techniques, then it is time to find another school.

It might be hard for your daughter to give up this special one-on-one time with you, especially since there are twin babies competing for that same attention. I would advise you to find a special bonding ritual you can do just for her in place of this pre-nap nursing. I think maybe a cuddle and a story, or maybe some special alone time when the twins nap would help her adjust to a once-a-day nursing. I think the sippy cup is a good idea, but I don't think it is the milk she will be missing, but, rather, the bonding. Good luck.

lol, oh wow, I know the feeling. It's very frustrating. My daughter started that around 6 months ago, and she's not in school.
Her dr said some kids develop a condition called selective hearing, I hear it can last a life time, because her father has it too, lol.
Anyways kidding aside, some kids just do this, maybe all of them. She will probably grow out of it as she ages and realizes the world extends beyond herself. I'm not holding my breath for mine, but am still hoping it happens soon!

I think that this is a normal three year old problem that she picked up at school. She watches what the other kids do at school and copies them, and brings it home. You might want to consider a different preschool, if at all possible, it sounds like the teachers don't have very much practice at controlling little tots.
My daughter picked up the word "idiot" at preschool. I hate what they bring home sometimes. Good Luck!!

wow that sounds like my 3.5 year old son! I even got his hearing checked to make sure he was hearing okay. I finally decided it's his age and (hopefully) he'll outgrow it.

It's common and I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you get good reports from her pre-school teachers.
