You would probably need to consume the entire cake before you ingested enough rum that would bring a buzz. However, with all the sugar and flour, you'd more likely get a serious sugar buzz before you got any kind of alcohol buzz.

There is deceptively little rum in rum cake. The key is that the rum is mixed raw into a glaze that is then poured on the baked cake, giving in a strong flavor. But, considering the amount of cake you are eating per part of rum soaked in, it would be very, very difficult to get any kind of buzz, much less become drunk from this delectable dessert.

You can't get drunk on rum cake ~ usually ~ it is made with artificial rum flavoring and there is no alcohol in it. I do know that some people make a rum syrup with dark rum and sugar to soak the cake but the alcohol evaporates and the amount left is not enough to intoxicate. You will have a bellyache before you would ever get a buzz eating Rum cake.

LOL Guess it depends on who made the cake! Generally it should just be for flavoring. . .One of my favorite family memories is the year my cousin made a rum cake for my grandmothers birthday. Well she was this little blind 90 year old woman, and she had a big ol' slice of cake. My cousin had SOAKED this cake through good, so poor ol grammy was pretty tipsy and laughing up a storm for her 90th birthday!!!!. . . .Some people put the rum inside the cake and it bakes off. But other places put rum on the outside of the cake and it soaks in, so it never has a chance to bake off! Too funny. But I'm sure you could eat a lot before it would make a difference.

Assuming it is a post baking soaking of rum I would say I could it the whole cake. I could eat the whole cake before I got drunk because I am a pig (LOL) and it would take 5 minutes. So, well before the rum got me buzzed. : )

Eat as much as you want...the alcohol is cooked out, leaving just the flavor of the rum. You'd probably just get a stomach ache from all the sugar.

You won't ever get drunk. The rum burns off when it is baked.

None. The alcohol evaporates during cooking due to the high heat of the oven. All that is left behind is the flavor.

Are you talking about Jamaican black cake? If so you would probably have to eat a whole cake.

Lots, Unless they add some type of alcaholic sauce afterwords, most of the alcahol is cooked out during the cooking process.
