Sounds like Koh Samui maybe. Koh is island.

What is there to do? Hiking, shopping, drinking, scuba diving, eating, partying, museums, temples, men, women, massages, spas, wind surfing, surfing, parasailing, golf, fishing and most anything you can do in the sun.

Money, might figure from 20 pounds to 100 pounds a day depending on what you do.

Check out www.bangkok.com for things to do around bangkok.

Check out www.thaiwebsites.com for sites related to your other week. This site has many links to the other places in Thailand.

Read the do's and don'ts. Major things, don't touch people on their heads and don't insult the King of Thailand. And you should be okay. Oh yeah, don't get into a fight with a thai person, you will be fighting a whole crowd.

Have a good trip.

Nice friend!

There are tons of things to do in Bangkok. Just walking around is one - it is very exotic.

Go visit the Wats. They are huge temples that are the burying places of Thai kings. They are major tourist destinations so they are easy to get to.

Take the new skytrain. It goes many places, is air conditioned and gives a great view of the city because it is elevated.

Take the water ferries. You just wait at one of many places on the Chaopraya River where they stop and jump on when they pull up to the dock for a few seconds. They only cost about a dime and they collect the money after you get on. The locals use these for transportaion but many westerners (farangs) use them too. They are the best way to get around the city if the river is anywhere near where you are going.

Visit the floating market. It's a bit touristy but fun. You can rent a boat to take you there.

Bangkok has great restaurants, especially for seafood. Ask at your hotel for some recommendations.

Only drink bottled water or soft drinks (or beer if you are old enough) and only eat cooked food. Watch out for the ice, because it may not come from bottled water - always ask.

Smile, smile, smile - they don't call Thailand the Land of Smiles for nothing.

Never shout at a Thai - it is very insulting to them. Keep your cool and laugh at adversity.

go shopping.

You are lucky to have such friend to bring you to such lovely destination. Well for starter, you can read up about Thailand on http://www.tourismthailand.org and you can find links to the places that you will be heading to. The places of interest and activities that you can do while there.

You will be in Bangkok for a start. Capital city, well known for great shopping bargains and night scenes. Bound to keep you up till late each day. Place is full of tradition and culture, so it will a unique experience for you.

Thai food is well-known around the world, so you should partake in the local food. Though spicy, there had been many visitors who cannot resist eating even when feeling the heat.

One thing is that most things are cheap in Thailand. Especially food and beverages. So if you want to budget comfortable spending, about 50 UK pds a day will be very comfortable for the 2 of you, including clubbing at night.

You can find tour information in the tourism website too. You can arrange many different tours to keep you all occupied for the duration of your visit.

Relax and enjoy Thailand. You can email me at thaitourinfo@yahoo.com if you like.

Thailand is a fantastic country ...... Bangkok is the complete opposite to the coastal towns with their fabulous beaches.
Try and get to Hua Hin for the most fantastic seafood. Pattaya or Phuket for the nightlife and ChangMai/Rai for countryside elephant rides and white water rafting.Being cheaper Koh Samui where you can camp out on the beachfront or rent a beach side hut ......
Where ever you go you are sure to enjoy it as the people are so lovely.
Money wise .... food and drink is very cheap and you will no problems finding either. Check out travelasia.com
Enjoy xxx

Northern is the best bet now. The beach at this time can be disappointed. No one really going to the beach in the rainy season (which is now).

Go see cultures and eat street foods. If in Bangkok, they are having Bangkok Film Festival. You will get to see a better Thai movies with subtitle. At least go see Temple of Emerald Buddha once and take the River Boat to get there.

If you go to Chiengmai (north), ride the elephant, see the Thai dance, eat northen food, take pictures with traditional custumes in the studio, and shop at the night bazaar (remember to bargain).

Stay away from:
-Rivers outside of Bangkok or water falls (flash flood is possible at this time)
-Groups of people protesting againt government
-The province that connects to Malaysia

Go to Chiang Mai up north. Beautiful City!!!
Try not to spend as much time in Bangkok, it is an insane city.
Overall i would recommend Chiang Mai, Pai, Sukhothai, Chiang Rai, and of course the islands.
The best thing to do in my opinion is to visit the temples and ruins. Unbelievably beautiful!!!
Thailand is super cheap.

if you've booked up bkk for a week never mind, otherwise just spend a couple or three days there. After that get yourself down to Koh Samui ,Phuket ,Phi Phi or Krabi or indeed all of them.Thats where all the tropical island stuff is at,long lazy days on the beach, partying at night, even the world famous full moon party on Phaghan.£1000 will be more than enough for a rip-roaring blow-out.Try

you won't need too much money.
one pound = approx. 70 Baht
thailand is cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap!
a bottle of water costs around 10 baht
a bowl of street noodles are around 20-30. yes, street noodles are good & perfectly healthy. Sukhumvit 38 has good street food.
Thailand is beautiful, at least out of Bangkok it is, & Thai ppl are very friendly.
bangkok for one week? that's long...bkk has leisure malls, flea markets, dirty buses, lumpini park, night markets, soi cowboy (red light), wat Phra Kaeow (this is a MUST) , Wat arun...
i think that's it!..
thai food is awesome, ask them for the "farang special" if you don't like it spicy. farang means westerner in Thai....bear in mind that farang special Thai food here will still be spicier than in England or wherever u are.
Bkk means bangkok. yeahh? study the BTS maps too, they can be confusing. Thai names are impossible for most foreigners. and bangkok has tonnes of small sois that will just appear out of thin air....please, don't get lost.
if you do, which is highly likely, ask a local, they'll make an attempt at speakin English... anyway, they absolutely adore laughing at tourists, but it's no offence, Thai ppl can laugh at the stupidest things on Earth.
hope that helped, enjoy your stay here!
