Legally, we have to.
Congress (the federal govt) has sole and exclusive authority over immigration matters. Cities, states, or private individuals who take the law into their own hands are violating federal law in doing so.
How can someone think that they are allowed to violate the law to stop other people from violating the law?

We don't need a fence, border control is very simple, declare war on the border, like war on terror. But, unlike the war on terror, allow the border patrol to shoot anyone who comes across illegaly. I guarantee that the crossing of illegal aliens would greatly reduce.
