The only time I know that anyone in the Bible tells humans they can become gods is when Satan tempts Eve in Eden. Genesis 3:5 "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof (the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil), then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods..." Unfortunately, our Mormon friends have fallen for the first lie, the original lie, once again just as Eve did.

John 10:34- Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
There are others, but I'll leave that for later.
Just because we think we will become gods (notice the small g!!!), that doesn't mean that God won't be our God. We will always be subject to him, and Christ will always be our savior. Read 1 Cor. 8:5,6- 5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Gods, with the small g, is higher then the angels, but beneath God Himself. We believe that if we live the way Christ has taught, and follow the commandments, and live up to the covenants and promises that we make with God, we will have the ability to become joint heirs with Christ. This isn't a non-biblical concept, in fact, it's very biblical. Try doing a search on joint heirs and see what you get. I'm sure you will find something interesting that you never caught before!!
Check out this link also. It may help you to understand what we are really talking about.
Have a good day!!!!
1 John 3:2Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

The Bible is not direct on this information. It comes mostly from modern revelation. However, if you put the pieces together, you can figure out how the doctrine fits into the Biblical teachings. We become joint heirs with Christ in His Father's Kingdom. If Christ inherits all the Father has and we are joint heirs with Him then we have all the Father has available to us as well. If that is not godhood, then I don't know what is.

Heres an answer I gave a few days ago to a similar question.
Acts 17:29 We are the offspring of God
Romans 8:16017 We are joint-heirs with Christ
Matt. 5:48 We are commanded to be perfect like Heavenly Father
Rev. 3:21 If we overcome, we will sit with Jesus and Heavenly Father on His throne.
And here's a link to Doctrine and Covenants section 132 that explains it very well http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/132...
We believe that those who have recieved the fulness of the gospel (including eternal marriage) will be able to progress through eternity. Eventually those who inherit this, will be able to create worlds and spiritual children. We do not believe that we will replace or diminish Heavenly Father or Jesus Christ in any way. He will always be our God, and Christ will always be our Savior.
One does not have to be a polygamist to recieve this blessing, but he/she does have to be married.
I hope that helps

We are created in His Image and when we die we will have a new and perfect body. Have you ever read The Book of Mormon?
Don't jump on the Mormons for believing this, there are also Non-Denominational Preachers, who believe in this concept. For example, Dr. Creflo Dollar and Pat Robertson.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Galatians 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

What Crusader1189 said!
Your are right not to want to hear anything about the book of mormon. This is an addition to the Bible.
You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deut. 4:2

If they have a book in addition to the Christian bible, why shouldn't they be able to use it? It's like me telling you to prove that Christians don't have to follow the Torah without using your "New" Testament.
