Perhaps because you have never discovered what real life is at all.
All you have now is existence.
"Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
John 17:3
"You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. "
Psalm 16:11

I have comfort from the thought of eternal life, but the real life of which the bible speaks.
Sorry, I understand that you do not want to talk about religion but the two go hand in glove.
I should not worry though, if you have no wish for eternal life the bible promises that you will have your hearts desire.
In case I miss you later, goodbye.

How can you compare the difference? You obviously haven't read the scriptures. Jesus died for you on the cross so you can have eternal life with him in heaven, where there is no pain, tears and suffering only love, joy and peace. Better than oblivion don't you think?

Have to admit that eternal oblivion sounds much more preferable to burning in hell...and than life as we now know it for that matter. I hope there is something much better than oblivion though.

You have to believe to have a preference All mankind are eternal beings in spite of themselves and their spirit will never cease to exist You cannot hide fromGod! You will stand before Him and be judged on your life here on earth. Whether or not you believe it doesnt change its happening, just as the sun rises in the East each day and sets in the West Sinners would welcome oblivion so they wont have to stand accountable but sorry----thats not the way it is! A tree only falls in one direction--mans choice is heaven or hell A person makes that choice himself by his decision and faith in God through Jesus Christ.

Eternal life for sure! I would hate to think that all the joy, love, sadness, and everything that I'd experience would be for all for nothing. I want to work for something while I'm here on earth... and I yearn to go to spend eternity with my Father and here Him say "Well done!" I think it would be sad if we went through this whole life asking ourselfs questions... trying to figure out just what in the heck we are here for... to find out that there was no point. That's ONE of the reasons that I know there is a God!!

are any of your patients reading that
its going to give them some real hope
if you had any interest in Buddhism as you claim in your profile surely you would have discovered how precious these human life cycles are
its not about oblivion we are all as old as space anyway even you
I know given whats happening to this place we can look on it as a crappy time to be born as a human or an extremely rare opportunity of finally working our way out of samsara these endless cycles of birth and death
it all depends how we view it in our mind
waste it and it can be an awful long time before you may be afforded another

If you find oblivion more comforting than you haven't really thought of heaven as the Bible describes it. Unending peace, joy and love, with no sin to spoil it- exactly what all you libs want here on earth and will never get.
