I'm amazed that no one knew this!

Mat 16:18-19
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it. "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Of course, Jesus probably did *not* mean that Peter was going to be the gate-warden to heaven, but if you read this literally you can see how some people have gleaned that meaning from these verses.

It is not scriptural. Some folklore I guess.

To Jim Pettis: The Keys of the Kingdom is the authority and stewardship given to the "disciples" to preach the gospel of Christ, so that those who receive it will be admitted to the kingdom of God. Keys are a symbol of access. Peter is not the only disciple of Christ.

Jesus says that Peter will become the Rock of his new church, the cornerstone and the leader of the Christian faith.

If someone can give you a chapter and verse for that one, then they deserve 10 points. Lol

God will be there

Christ will be waiting for the believer.....
But the great white throne will be waiting for the non-believer
