Religion is forced on children. People can sugar coat it all they want by saying they're gifting "knowlege" to their children but that's a load of b.s. Children believe what they're told. That's why religious associations love children, they corrupt them at an early age.
My husbands two children were living with their uber-religious grandmother who taught them horrendously asinine things like there's no such things as dinosaurs and if you don't believe in God you're going to hell. These things should never be uttered by a 6-year-old. My husband and I gave the girls proof of things like dinosaurs, and the kids refused to believe in anything that was not in the bible--they were that far gone.
It was frustrating and infuriating. The damage has already been done.
Let kids discover religion on their own. It isn't fair to them because they take things at face value. They don't truly understand what you're telling them. That's not faith, that's brainwashing.

I'm the brave child that broke free of Pentecostal parents.
I learned of the Christian version of Gods love by the way I was ostracized.
My children are just starting to ask religious questions, my oldest age 10 is interested in Pagans, my 6 year old doesn't give a flip about none of it.
When they are old enough to understand I'll explain my belief and if God moves them they may or may not be interested.
I'll always love them no mater what religion they choose.
Blessed Be!

No, thankfully my parents studied the Bible themselves to determine what was right and passed the love of God down to me.
But obviously we know what you're really implying. Whether you believe in God or not, when raising your kids, do you teach them right from wrong, help them learn to walk, read, talk, tell them to be careful so they don't get hurt, teach them to be nice to others? I'm sure you do. You don't just leave alone with no instruction and make them figure life out for themselves?
As Christians we teach our children all of that, plus about God and His love for us. In your eyes I'm sure it is dumb, because you don't understand it. We have the Faith to believe that God does exist. You choose not to believe, so that's your right. But don't lower yourself by being condescending and insulting.
EDIT: Re. letting kids discover religion on their own, everyone grows up and is free to (and should) study on their own to understand why they believe what they do. I was raised to believe in God. And I've never heard a convincing argument of why not to believe in Him. Saying "there's no proof" is true, but it also doesn't prove that he doesn't exist. When you get into the area of "imaginary sky daddy" or "Christians are guillible", etc. that's not proof either. That's someone stating an opinion and childish name-calling.

Yep..I sure am glad my mom gave me this"dumb" religion and I love being brainwashed....and my daughter will be glad too, and if she decides to walk away, like I did, I will love her just like my mom loved me...which is how Jesus loved us all, unconditionally...sounds pretty dumb doesn't it.
