umm should i put the brochure in the maill and let him see it or ny ideas of ways to tell him?

Yah adventureman there is nothing parents love more than a phonecall from their kid saying they have been hurt and are in the hospital in another country - she wants to surprise him not kill him . REAL good idea.
Thats right up there with "mom I'm calling you from the back of an ambulance" I got that one, once.
Slip the tickets into a birthday card, throw a party with a "Canada theme" - maple leafs and stuff like that - please no igloos or moose skin hats - work it all day, start with pancakes for breakfast with maple syrup --- rent a video about something to do with Canada -- leave an atlas open to the map of Canada in the bathroom or on his dresser - attach a maple leaf to his key chain - come down wearing a t shirt with something on it about Canada - or a hockey jersey from a Cdn team -- buy a copy of a Canadian newspaper and leave it on the table - say 'eh after every sentence -- buy some Canadian beer for the party - but beware Cdn beer has a higher alcohol content - decorate his cake with a big maple leaf and then hand him the card -- good luck !!!!!!!!!
(I love it when an American comes to Canada and brags that they can drink a dozen beer and not feel it - its just so cool when they get so drunk they cant stand up ).
I'm tired, its late, I am sure you can work out the details about whats Canadian for the theme ...

Maybe try to get tour brochures of some different places he could visit while he's here. Is it a bus tour type thing or are you giving him a plane ticket or what?
I hope he has a passport.

Try to get out of the house and call him at home. Then say you are getting secretly married in a Canadian church OR is hurt and in a Canadian hospital. Tell him you need him up in Canada immediately. Tell him he can find an airline ticket in a prearranged drawer in a cupboard. Ask him to take that flight to see you. He will zoom up on his little legs to Canada so fast you will not believe it!
