Hypethetical Question - Could really happen though.

We wake the day after the elections and our new President's first order is that all Bibles need to be turned in and destroyed. If you are caught in posession of a Bible the penalty will be death. What will you do?

1) Disobey the mandate, keep your Bible, and risk death.
2)Obey the Authorities, turn in your Bible. ( your relationship isn't with a book anyway's it's with the Author).
3) Do something else.

Please let me know what you would do. Thanks

I would turn in my Bible because as you said,"my relationship isn't with the book."
If one believes in the teachings of the Bible we can't be any help to others in need (of anything) if we are dead.
We can always continue our praising God in our hearts no matter where we are. Government can't take that away. (even if they really tried)

3) I'd be buying me a nice AKM rifle some RPG rounds and go rambo on the place.

Christianity is the perfect underdog religion, it inspires it's followers to take a beating and keep taking it. Christianity started in the face of persecution, therefore it has reserve speeches and dogmas so to speak that would make surpressing christianity nigh on impossible. That's why it's gaining popularity so much in China compared to other religions. It's a non-newtonian religion, the harder you press the more it resists.

Christianity also has a martyr complex, much stronger than any Shia Muslim (although they are underdogs right now which makes their - also very important - sacrifices shine through more).

edit: Now that i read what i wrote it sounds like a car advertisement...

The Bible is a book. No one can take my faith. If the government demands my book by law, I must obey. The Bible they're grabbing tells me to obey the laws of my government.

You don't mention the Tanach of the Jews. If they don't have to turn it over, we'll all have the Old Testament anyhow. They're the same.

The New Testament is short and many pretty much know it. Teaching would be through oral history until the fools who violated the US Constitution are out of office. It wouldn't last long.

Anyone who knows anything about history is aware that Christians have been persecuted and killed for their beliefs. In countries like, North Korea, Cuba and many Arab Nations; Christians are persecuted and cannot worship God freely.
The Bible states that there will be persecution of the Christians prior to the second coming of the Lord.
"And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake, then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you. But he that endureth to the end shall be saved." Matthew 10:22 and repeated again in Matthew 24:9,10
Christians will be facing persecution, imprisonment and even death. Very difficult times are coming, a time of final decision for humanity. The Scriptures reveal God's test of loyalty, we must study the Bible, learn as much as we can from the Bible; for in the Bible we find the essence of God.
I am willing to die for the author of The Holy Bible.
The Lord died for you, are you willing to die for Him?

I'd keep my Bible. Well one of them at least. I have quite a few of various languages and translations.

I have a lot of great hiding places in my house, I don't think a book would be that hard to hide.

I agree that my relationship isn't with the book, but I'd still want one around.

This already happened to the Gnostics about 700 years ago.

Gods people were told they would always be persecuted.
Since the telling I see..

First by Jews
Then by Rome
Then by Catholics
Now by Christians.

Funny how the majority religion is Christianity while Jesus teaches that the road to hell is wide and most people will go that route. The road to heaven is narrow and few will find it.

And they still think they're morally superior.

Blessed Be!

Disobey the mandate, keep my Bible, and risk death.

The Bible is the book the Author has given me to guide me in His ways. To give up the book is to deny Him.

#1. God's word is the only true law. He will protect and keep you. Besides, death means heaven for those who are faithful, so no matter what happens God is taking care of you. or use #3 and go to a different place.

I would be appointed queen of nassau county because i don't own a bible.
But I guess if I strongly believed in Christianity and the bible, I'd try to keep mine hidden. Even though a book isn't worth your life if you dedicate that life to loving God and stuff. Or so I've heard.
It is so easy to sound super religious, I had to edit that.

I would disobey the mandate. First off, it would be an absolute contradiction of the First Amendment and I suspect that a great majority of the population (Christian or not) would be up in arms over it.
