Why do parents stress so much over these particular sleepovers? Im 13 and I have a group of friends that go to my church and we want to have a boy/girl sleepover, but im not sure if my parents would agree with that. I dont think any of my friends would do "anything" with the guys or vice versa, but why do parents assume we will?

in this day and age you never know. your next door neighbor turns out to be a child pornographer or kidnaps you and leaves your body in the park. they don't know other children, they know you but they don't kn0ow someone else's kid. i thought i knew my neighbor until the cops took him for killing his wife and child. your parents love you and want you to be safe.

Sorry, chickie: parents' rules are the rules. They have veto power. Even if your friends are the most upstanding young people in the universe, same-sex sleepovers just aren't socially appropriate.

I'll bet you could think of something else to do, though, like a late night at an amusement park, midnight bowling, or inviting your folks to stay up with you and play video games or watch movies.

Why is a same-sex sleepover appealing, anyway? Nobody looks good first thing in the morning...do you really want boys to see you with your hair a mess, gunk in your eyes, and nasty morning breath?

I've never heard of boy/girl sleepover. That sounds a bit on the bad side if these are your friends from church. My parents wont ever let me bring a guy inside my house, imagine to my room. They will kill me. Im on my way to being twenty and I still have rules. And It doesnt mean they dont trust you in particular, its the guys they dont trust. You should understand. Guys are sometimes not trustworthy.

Come on...put yourself in a 13 year old guys' mind!

He's just started watching rated R movies and looking at the JCPenney Catalog bra section. He is laughing at jokes with the words boobs in them.

Not that one of the guys would get out of control, but there are the 13 year old girls too....

You guys have probably started having crushes on the latest Justin Timberlake clone.

Your parents know the score...when all you guys go down into the basement and start playing truth or dare, things have the potential for intimacy.

Because with media coverage extended by the internet to almost every household on the planet, more and more information about kids your age becoming pregnant or passing and carrying diseases are prevalent in the minds of parents everywhere. Teenagers are the most curious bunch who believe they can do anything and never get hurt. If it's so important to you guys, have several parents serve as chaperones.

People are freaks. There is a bit of freak in all of us. You are a girl. You are the sex that can get pregnate (and ruin your life). Some of the people get random "freak spurts" and will hurt a girl at a sleepover. Trust your parents. I am still a teenager, but I understand. Your parents do not know or want to know your friends. They cant trust them if they dont know them.

Because your parents were once your age also and are more then aware of the hormones that are changing in your age group. Don't be angry with your folks as they are doing what they believe and I have a funny feeling that when your son or daughter comes to you at the same age your response will be same. Just comes with maturity and live lessons.

You guys are at the age where you feel like you must see what the opposite sex has to offer. If I was a parent, I would say yes but have to boys sleep in one room, and the girls in a different, with my room in the middle and the door open.

Parents just care too much for you thats all. They feel that it's better to be safe than sorry! (when it comes to their children) Or else how would you hear about young girls like 12 and 13 be getting pregnant and stuff??? They just don't want anything bad to happen to you. YOu have to understand that part sweetie. =) Good luck

Because something always CAN happen. It may not be the intention, but it can happen and then the parents are responsible for it.

Boy/girl sleepovers at your age are not allowed.

This is always the hardest trust. Between teenagers and parents. Parents realize teenagers tend to get more sexually excited and will take chances. They probably won't agree to this to be honest. Just don't do anything that will lead them to completely lose your trust w/ them
