I think you did it right. I'm just like u, searching for a job. In the process, I have turned down a few offers because the employers clearly wanted to take advantage of my plight (that I am out of a job) by offering me super low rates. Frankly speaking, there are a lot of employers like that out there.
I do feel a bit of guilt, cause it's like 'you are out of a job and you still want to be choosy'. But if I can turn back time, I will still reject the offer. Why?
Because it's your decision and you are the one to live with it. No one will care whether you are rightfully compensated. The other party will only be too happy to pick up such a good deal.
In additional, this job you are talking about deals with patients. From the way these people wanted to take advantage of you, I was wondering....less to speak of what the patients are getting over there.

You know what is right for you. If you looked at the specifics of the patient's case and determined that this was more than you could handle at this time, then you absolutely did the right and responsible thing. I really commend you, because so many people will take a job just for the money and end up hating the job. By being able to admit that this was a little much for you, you have done your part to assure that this patient receives the best care possible. Plus, you won't end up being miserable and resentful because you took this job.
Just look at gas prices right now. Can you imagine how much of your check you would be spending just on transportation costs. If there was no reimbursement offered, then that's a big deal; in addition to fuel charges, you will have to get your oil changed more often and there will be more wear and tear on your car.
Keep looking and don't give up. Something will come up that is much better suited for you and will make you happier. Don't beat yourself up for not taking this job; it really sounds like you made the right decision.

Well, if you really need a job 12 is better than nothing, but I really feel that you made a good decision. If they wanted to pay you less and gave you the hardest patient then you have a reason to look for work elsewhere. It also sounds like you know what you are looking for and thats a great step in the right direction. You are right, and you should not be taken advantage of.

I agree with you. There is no reason to accept being payed less than everyone else. Except ofcourse if there is a reason for that, such as they have several years experience and you do not.
If you are comparing yourself to other people in your situation, then I agree with you.
If you do not stand for something you fall for everything.
You did the right thing. A better job will come. Be patient.
If you had accepted, you will end up feeling resentment everyday of your working day.
You can find a temporary job, until you get the offer that pleases you.
My question to you is could you have bargained up your wage? Have you tried negotiating?

I think u made the right decision if they were only willing to pay you 12 dollars an hour and u would have to drive far away which would be alot of gas!Even though u need a job I think you still did the right thing.I would have done the same.

With gas so expensive in most areas, you should have gotten the 14.00 rate, based on the heavy work load plus the commute. So you did the right thing, so don't beat yourself up over it, since something else will likely come up really soon, and closer to home, so it will be a much better fit.

Next time dont take decisions without thinking about it first, except if you can live on your savings while you get a new job or you have someone who provide for your needs because in that job at least you were doing something and earning something,.. we dont always have position we wish to have, to get it, we need to look once and again for it, and then take it,..... I would wait to get another job first

i would turn it down... no job is worth being taken advantage of no matter how bad you need the money. If you let them do it to you once they will think they can do it again.. put your foot down!

What is your level of education and where do you live? There are a lot of factors that figure in here.
