Personally, a hand written letter is more personal and since it takes time and effort to sit down and hand write a letter, I would say the handwritten. I think it shows you really care and are supportive.

Definitely not handwritten.
Things are always preferred typed and neat so that you don't put the other person throught the effort of reading your handwriting. It's a question of tidyness and politeness, it's a nice gesture.
Of course your signature should be handwritten and in blue ink if possible.

I don't know what a letter of motivation is.
Handwritten letters are much more personal, but if you are talking about a letter of recommendation, it should be typed unless you personally know the person to whom the letter is to be sent.

Hand written is more personal, however if you are sending the letter as motivational documentation it's ok to be typed.

forget about the letter. I haven't heard of a motivation letter before but if you are looking to motivate someone, I think a letter will not come off as effective as you'd hope.
talking to him/her would be better. invite him/her to lunch or give him/her a call.

Sorry, I'm not sure what a "letter of motivation" is. Could you add more detail?

I would type the letter and hand-write my signature.
That's the only way someone could read it unless I print.
