Take the quiz on the Eukanuba website. It will help you find a dog that fits your lifestyle which is way important. Also check out the breed info in the second website. Good Stuff.
As a tip.... larger dogs cost a lot more than small dogs. Can you afford it? My 7 month Great Dane/ Lab goes through a 40lb bag of dog food in about 3 weeks and she is not the least bit overweight before anyone asks. So just be sure and do your research. It's a big responsibility. Plus the medical bills/ shots. I'm not trying to discourage you... I just want you to be able to provide for your new friend so he/she doesn't end up in a shelter.
Good Luck

get a akita they are so loving and protective they are said to be clean like cats. my akitas were adorable and very loyal. the only bad thing is that they shed a lot so dont make them like in a hot place because it is very uncomptable with a 3" thick fur coat on in a hot place. they tend to have hip and eye problems . Akitas get so big and if they get over weight they tend to get arthritis( or how ever it is spelled) they eat a lot think 2 1/2 dog food bowles a day but if you are a dog lover this is the best choice. German shepards are great too i now have a shepard puppy and she is amazingly smart and big she is 5mo. and almost 50 lbs. well good luich will the dog picking how u find the dog of you dreams

You have a HUGE list!!! Was it created by what the dogs look like? Of course, looks is part of it. But more importantly, and foremost, is consider the general TEMPERAMENT of the breed? Are they "easy" dogs? How important is proper socialization? How easy do they take to training? How challenging are they to train? What was the breed bred to do...that will give you a big clue: herding breeds have a tendency to want to keep things grouped together, scenting hounds want to follow their noses, terriers generally are feisty, retrievers generally want to retrieve and have toys in mouths...
I am not a fan of little breeds, so many easily develop a "little dog complex" being snippy....I think doubled with the fact that so many people are hesitant to correct them and treat them as human babies.
I LOVE my Border Collie! But I wouldn't suggest one. Need a lot of physical and mental stimulation. Note: I regitered mine
as CoeFen I M A BZ BZ B. and she is!
How you train will determine what you get from the dog as an adult. "You only get out what you are willing to put in".
Do training research BEFORE you get a puppy. Even research for a good trainer in your area now.
Of the breeds listed above, as a dog trainer and agility exhibitor, I would say: Am Eskimo, Collie, Golden
also you may want to check out: English Cocker Spaniel, Shetland Sheepdog, Border Terrier
above are nice breeds, fairly easy to train, not generally hyper-active
Good luck..

Treeing Walker Coonhound
The Treeing Coonhound is good with children and gets along with other dogs. Training is accomplished with little trouble, as these dogs are able to learn from example. They are primarily working and hunting dogs but will also make a great companion dog. Working, to the Treeing Walker Coonhound, is not work but a sport and diversion. They thrive on consistent and ample attention. High-strung but loving and eager to please, the Treeing Walker is intelligent, skilled and confident. Some say they are the best breed for coonhound field trials because of their speed, ability to locate quickly and good treeing ability. They are swift with a very good sense of smell and a distinctive howl. Socialize at a young age.
But don't take my word ...visit some dogs.....

What most dog experts recomend is a bichon. i dont know if your a first time dog owner, but bichons are a good pick. some od the dogs like a chow are not good with other children and people. they were used as guard dogs in china and you cant expect them to be friendly to everyone.for a big dog swiss mt. dogs are great pets , also are great danes i know its not on the list but they are huge dogs that want to be lap dogs. dachshunds have a big dog additude. and barks a lot , but they can be trained out of it somewhat. also what climate do you live in ? because its almost cruel to have something like a great pyrenees or newfoundland in weather like FL or AZ. go to breed info.com it has everything you need to know. the bads and goods on every breed. also take in the account of the typed of fur. some have fur some have hair. ones with hair such as a bichon , poodle. schnauzer, terriers. don't shed or are low sheders . but things like a nefuie shed a ton! Make sure that you take what ever puppy you get to obedience class. it is mandatory in my opinion. i have trained dogs for 3 years and i still took my pup to class. the only dogs that i worry about on the list (and people dont give me a tumbs down about this) beagle and jack Russel. we had a beagle who would shew threw trampoline posts, and plugged in electrical tools. jacks just have a ton of energy like dalmatians. and both recuire training. what everyou decide i hope you have a wonderfull thime with you new pup.
P.s go to pet finder.com you may be able to get a pup and save a life!

Nova Soctia Duck Tolling Retriever. I love those dogs. They look like border collie but a little less hyper. If u cant find them than go for the border collie. They both will cuddle at times but love to play and do agility

My choice would be a Great Pyrenese, I am partial being I own 1, they are the biggest sweethearts like someone else said gentle giants, so big they dont even realize it. All they want is to be part of the family, one thing is they shed 24/7 all year long, but the love you get from them makes all the difference in the world. Finally you dont need to discipline them, they discipline themselves when they do wrong.

Little dogs have allot more energy than big dogs.
Golden Retrievers are wonderful dogs they love affection like most dogs but their energy level is not the extreme of little dogs.
Big dogs love to be cuddled if you can handle cuddling a big dog then the golden retriever is for you beside you have lots of room to teach your dog new tricks.Get the dog you love the most and have room for.

It really depends on a lot. Such as.... do you have time for training? Are you able to care for the needs of a large dog? How active are you?
I know a lot about most of these dogs. You need to pick one to fit your lifestyle.
If you pick a dog and can't fulfill its needs it could be harmful to the dog. For example, Border Collies are incredibly intelligent and have a strong need to "work". If you do not give them some sort of job to d they can develop OCD and become harmful and withdrawn.
