Not so much about ceremony, but would like to include some Greek traditions. Also would like to learn as much as possible in order to be the best wife I can be. Heritage and family are very important to both of us, and I want to immerse myself in the culture, traditions, etc. Serious answers only please!

Thanks Fizzygurrl! That is a great idea. I actually bought the movie around Christmas time right after we got engaged. I've watched it at least fifty times! Great suggestion! I have also ordered CD's to learn to speak Greek and bought several books. I wonder if any there are any natives on here who can tell me more about the role of being a good Greek wife (every cultures expections seem to have slight nuances to them). My fiance is the most wonderful man I've ever met and I want to be the best wife I can!

It would be nice to have their version of 'circle' dancing - sorry I don't know the Greek term, with lots of ethnic music. At some weddings, they DO have the breaking of the plates (but that depends upon your budget!).
Also, a free shot of Ouzo to anyone who will go up and dance with the bellydancer!
Faves for dinner - lamb, moussaka, dolmathis (yummers), and baklava (drool...).

The ceremony is MOST beautiful - ours was Ukrainian Greek Catholic, so some of the customs are the same, as are the icons in the church, etc.

You should rent My Big Fat Greek Wedding. No joke! That movie was a comedy, but there were definitely some serious Greek wedding traditions showcased in the movie. Happy wedding to you- u-pah!!!
