I have heard that both are effective anti inflamatories and pain releivers, but if I have to take alot of it, which one should I pick. I have been prescribed both by doctors. Or are there any other (simple) remedies? It is not chronic, but out of the blue I will get sharp pains and not be able to move.

If it is short term only then the Naproxin is probably your best bet. It has also be suggested to me that (short term only) I take 1 naproxin(aleve liq. gel) and 1 acetaminophen(tylenol extra strength), along with alternating ice and heat in 15 min. intervals every couple of hours.

Naproxin is definitely the better of the two. It's stronger and you won't have to use as many tablets.

Also when you get one of these attacks Take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts. Soak for 30 minutes.
Massage an analgesic cream into the sore muscles.

Naproxen is stronger and will probably help you more, but everyone is different and the Ibuprofen may do the trick you will just need to see. Both are equally safe.

I would suggest naproxen! just b/c if you are used to taking a lot of one thing, naproxen is a higher dosage of an over the counter aleve or advil! so you will not have to take as much as usual! but it is not strong, so if the problem persists you may want to see your doctor again, and see if there is something else, possibly stronger that they can prescribe to you!!

goodluck

If you need to use any of them for long time, do it under medical supervision and look up their side effects on the net.

Other options of pain management are probably worth considering.
