I mean, there are other diverse countries/cities that could've taken the place of NY, but what I've read on here it sounds so nice from people's descriptions. I've never been to NY let alone the US, but I've always had some kind of liking for New York. So what makes it so nice?

have a good weekend all

I'm a New Yorker and here are my reasons for loving NY so much:
-The cultural diversity. In New York City about 170 languages are spoken and its has the highest number of ethnically mixed marriages and children (all my friends and I are of mixed ethnicities).
On the 7 train you pass thru so many different immigrant communities that its been dubbed the International Express. ..."Get off in Sunnyside, spend an evening at a Spanish theater or a Romanian night club; get off in Woodside, rent a Thai video or hear traditional music at an Irish pub; get off in Jackson Heights, visit an Indian sari shop or dance at a Colombian night club; get off in Corona, watch the Italian game of bocce being played or buy fresh tortillas at a Mexican bakery; get off in Flushing, eat in an Afghan restaurant or take classes in Korean drumming." -Queens Tribune
-The food!!! I am a foodie and NYC is land of the food obsessed! We have so many diverse cuisines here to choose from and we know the best places to eat are the ones without gimmicks or shnazzy decor.
-I love NY in the Spring because of picnics, cherry blossoms blooming, baby squirrels and birds building nests.
-I love NY in the Fall because of the fall foliage and the crisp weather.
-You can get ANYTHING in NY (good and bad things). From a hair gel that you could only find in Yemen, to counterfeit Fendi to any weird food to a three legged prostitute.
-And last but not least NYers are characters! Whether you were born here or haved lived here for ages you just get this attitude...not a bad one but a street smart, quirky, funny, eccentric, at times loony one....hahahaha! And we hate being jipped! We never over pay for anything (except rent....oh well).

I love NY!

Conquering New York in a single visit is difficult because is a big city like you will learn with Hotelbye . In New York you can see the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and significantly more. Empire State Building helps it be worth braving the extended lines, high admission rates and dizzying heights to see the city from a premier this storied building. Integrated 1931, the skyscraper could be the second-tallest creating in New York and is one of the very most quick representations of Gotham, therefore much to ensure that it's performed a part in films such as King Kong, An Affair to Remember and Sleepless in Seattle.

There is an exciting energy that exists in New York. You feel energized, alive, vibrant, like just about anything can happen. New Yorkers are so used to seeing so many weird things - that it takes a lot to surprize them. People in the streets will help direct you if need it. There is an amazing variety of cultures. There are completely unique neighborhoods that only last a few blocks and then change into a completely different neighborhood. You have the museums, the financial sector, broadway and many great places to eat. You can find just about any product on earth somewhere for sale in New York.

It has everything. The best shopping-I checked out Mexican jewelry, for example, in NYC, and it was cheaper than I could get it in Mexico even after bargaining so I didn't buy it in Mexico. The food is incredible, the museums are wonderful. You can spend a whole in the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Museum of Natural History and there are hundreds of smaller museums. You can get half price tickets to the theater. LA doesn't have the theater. You can get around cheap and fast by subway 24/7. You can get a flight to anywhere in the world. There is a big variety of people from all over the world. The people are tolerant of people from different cultures. It is the center of the fashion industry and wall street is there. It has everything and it's fast to get to everything.

The energy!
The hustle and bustle of the city!
The nightlife!
The diversity!
The feeling of option and opportunity.
Everything.
I am in love with New York, and it's the only place in the world I want to be.
Everybody there is so interesting and bold and opinionated, and they all have their own story to tell.

And, most people are there to get something taken care of, so they're all driven to do what they love.
I LOVE NEW YORK.

There is everything and anything. There is no need to list. Whatever your imagination comes up with it is most likely here because someone else has already thought of it!
Come and see for yourself but don't only do tourist activities. Personally most New Yorkers don't do those things and we don't like tourist. No one "really" hangs out in Times Square unless they have to-it's for tourists. What make it great is the unique character each little neighborhood provides with stuff to do-that's the secret.

There is a little bit of everything that exists in the whole world here in my city. If I feel like visiting a piece of Greece I can go to Astoria, for India or China etc. I can go to another part of Queens, or for a bit of the tropics up to Washington Hgts, or other parts of the city.

NYC is like no other city. It stays active way into the night, and there are so many festivals, parties, gatherings, people, music, fashion, adventure, discovery all in one, it's impossible to get bored! I love the diversity of people and personalities, and I always feel like I can try so many new things and meet so many cool new people.I like it better than all other cities.
