He's not detail oriented.

(Real answer: it's a medical phenomenon, and has nothing to do with any gods whatsoever)

Because we live in a fallen world when in entered the world so did death. I was diagnosed with an illness at 16 and because of this I was never able to conceive or bear children.
I am not bitter, angry or resentful at God and have come to find out that this illness runs in our family although I was the first to be diagnosed. I also accepted Jesus as my Savior because I was so sick. The miracle of this all is I can drive I am very happily married and we are doing well. I know it basically broke my moms heart in two when I was hospitalized for 7 weeks. Although I am married 13 years and move 3000 miles with my husband my mom and I are closer than ever.

I don't know why birth defects or illnesses happen and even till this day I still don't know why I got sick 22 years ago. But every one goes through suffering and pain in some way shape or form. God gives mercy and strength do those born with defects and defects and he gives the families of these children's the strength and hope to deal with it.

GOD knew us long before we were ever a glimmer in our parent's eyes. We came from GOD, but through our parents. Our parents are the filter through which we enter the world. Their genetics determine just how normal or abnormal (if there is such a thing) we'll be. Birth defects can be caused by many things, whether it's bad genetics, effects from the environment; i.e., mom's a smoker, or drug-user, etc.

If it's caused by bad genes, there's nothing a parent can do about it. Gene therapy is in its infancy, so not very much is known.

I suppose if you really wanted to stretch that argument so you can blame GOD, you could. I would seriously doubt the validity of the argument though because Satan, ultimately, is the cause for our problems, not GOD.

I hope I have been of some help. Thanks and GOD Bless.

Although we are made in the image of God, we are also made in the image of man. Namely Adam and Eve, who both took the first step to disobey God. That disobedience has created what most people call a "fallen state" - which basically means we don't live in the perfect word with the perfect bodies that God first created for us.

What he did do was give the choice to do what we want. The gave us a free will (the other choice is for us to be robots and only do what we are told. That's not a life.)

I do not believe people born with birth defects get them because their parents sinned. It happens because we no longer live in a perfect world, and the bad stuff that happens is a side-affect of that.

What God does do is give us the strength to deal with the bad things that do happen to us.

Birth defects happen for so many reasons. We could drive ourselves crazy asking why in Biblical matters. The reason being that God has such a huge master plan, that we cannot even fathom the magnitude. Humans are at religious odds always because of the "why". That's where ultimate faith comes in. I have faith that when the time comes, ALL will be revealed to everyone everywhere, so while I'm here, I trust God to follow his plan for me! Is it Beethoven who was stone deaf? I'm sure his parents asked "why", but he became (and still is) one of the world's greatest contributors! All of us walking around here on earth have no idea what great contributions take place with the birth of a child. One idea may be a person born deformed to a parent or family to change the flow of their lives in a direction that is according to something within God's overall plan.

When you think of it in a physical sense it's hard to understand why God allows these things to happen. But our time here on earth is a blink of the eye compared to eternity which we were created for. We were created like God in a since that we have eternity set in our hearts. We will live on pass our physical death.

Remember God is fair and just. We we're all born dead in spirit. We all need to search and find salvation through God's son Jesus Christ. We are all held accountable for what knowledge we have and God will judge us for what we do know.

So those who have birth defects and illnesses can still be reborn spiritual and receive the same glorified bodies as we are promised in Heaven.

Some references John 4:24 & John 3:13-21. God bless.

Birth defects happen for a number of reasons - DNA, accidents, drug use, etc., but the birth defect does not define the person. A person in a wheelchair who is completely paralyzed is no less a person than an olympic athlete. With God, what counts is the soul. Are they good or evil?

This is a beautiful question. Seeking truth in action.

Unfortunately, dear one, none of us (whether for or against the Lord) is qualified to answer.

If one is of the mindset that there is no God, then the question becomes meaningless as there is no pupose to it, but rather unfortunate biological occurances.

If one is of the mindset that there is God then one must allow themselves to understand that there are some areas of life for which we know no other reason than "it serves a purpose in God's kingdom".

(Aside -if your believe on the promise of Jesus) When asked why a child was born with defect, people wanted to know whether it was the child or the parent's sin which caused this defect. Jesus' reply was neither had sinned, but it was so that the glory of God/work of the Father could be seen. Have you ever spent time with child of Down's Syndrome? of Cerebral Palsy? of ANY "defect"? They are SO beautiful, SO simplistic in their love - would that we could all love so freely.

Well first you have to wonder what a birth 'defect' is. It is a mutation of DNA. They occur naturally and result in a multitude of different changes in people, benificial or otherwise. In a more natural world, such mutations would be the basis for evolution. If one were so disadvantaged as to not be able to live long enough to reproduce, then their genes would fall into oblivion. That is a basis of evolution as a theory; differential reproductive success. But we now live in a society that is as close to Hardy-Wienberg Equalibrium as possible (is in no evolution occuring) because if someone is disadvantaged, we can help them as much as we can. So we now see a whole bunch of mutations but because they aren't involved in differential reproductive successes, they will continue to happen. Speaking purely hypothetically, if one were to kill all the people with harmful mutations, they would eliminate those mutations and facilitate a sort of natural slection. (Unfortunately, this is what drives 'ethnic clensing' groups to destroy who they see and unfit)

Now, where God comes into with all of this is (if you believe such things) that he made Adam and Eve, and they went on to create all humans as we know them today. After all that time it's not unreasonable to think changes would have occured.

Birth defects are a part of human nature. . .not the nature of God. Because people sinned and God had to send His Son to save them, there are problems in the world and in nature. the world was perfect until sin came to be. When we go to Heaven, everything will be perfect once again. Earth is just a temporary home with problems that do not ultimately affect eternal happiness. I believe God loves people with birth defects very much because He allowed them to happen and they will probably be rewarded greatly in Heaven for their painful life. He loved Jesus and allowed Him to die on a cross for us so it makes sense to me that He loves them greatly. I hope this helped some.

The world we live in was put in motion alive a long time ago, at that time all things were good. Our creator began communicating to us the best way for us to live. But we continually choose things contrary to what is best for us and the consequences to that bring these unfortunate events like birth defects etc...
We live in a time of high contamination and it gets more difficult each day to live whats best for us. Its not our fault that these things happen, Its our responsibility to help out those it happens to.
