No-one, in all of human history, has ever come up with one single scrap of evidence or valid argument for the non-existence of a god, so on what basis do people confidently assert that "God is not real"? Surely a bold statement like that should be supported with *something* tangible...?

God's existance is proven by the LACK of proof FOR his non-existance.
There's no tangable evidence that says he's not real, either.
see how easy it is turn around?
And thats the point

How is this a bold statement in any way? How would someone come up with something tangible to prove the nonexistence of something? Prove the tooth fairy doesnt exist.
The proof is the fact that there is no proof of it in the first place.
All the proof ever needed is contained in the fact that it is not logical and that whenever critical thinking is applied to the concept insane rationalizations are needed.
Why is it that the ignorant always ask for proof when they can never come up with any of their own?
*Edit*
tuberoot- It does effect us as YOU people have been and are attempting to legislate your religion. So I for one fight back in any way I can.

People seek evidence of god. They have for centuries. They have never found proof. Each time they look and fail the probability he exists drops. It is now no higher than 1 in 10^34 (the fundamental level of uncertainty in the universe). It is more likely that you would win the lottery every week for the rest of your life than that god exists.
Now that is not zero, but it may as well be. That is tangible, observation based, quantified and backed up.
Your turn - prove it wrong.

Evidence is something provided in the physical sciences. The question of God's existence, is from the outset, in a different category than the physcial sciences. I still do not understand why people are so adamant about finding "evidence" of God's existence. There will never be physical evidence of the existence of God OTHER THAN the fact that there is existence, there is order, there is beauty, there is mystery, there is love. The greatest evidences of God are found in ourselves. The fact that we have an intellect, the fact that there is goodness and badness in this existence and morals, that we have free will (despite what some will claim to the contrary). Anyone who has done a good study of philosophy knows that there are many different forms of knowledge. Our age, simply puts all of its faith in science, one form to know something. The monotheistic God cannot be found in creation, he superceded this created universe and cannot be "in" it anymore that you or I could be "in" a paiting we have made or a book we have written. The evidence is the painting or book itself. This is my belief.

There is one incredibly compelling mass of evidence for the non-existence of God: That there is absolutely no evidence for its existence.
Look at it this way:
"A deity in the form of spaghetti isn't real" say the atheists - So, where's their argument? Where's their evidence?
No-one, in all of human history, has ever come up with one single scrap of evidence or valid argument for the non-existence of a flying ball of spaghetti with supernatural powers, so on what basis do people confidently assert that "a flying ball of spaghetti with supernatural powers is not real"? Surely a bold statement like that should be supported with *something* tangible...?

That sounds like something I would say sarcastically.
I guarantee you can't find one scrap of evidence that Mickey Mouse doesn't exist (as an actual entity).
Oh, so you're flipping someone else's question. It doesn't really work this way though, because nobody should be burdened to disprove something that's never even been suggested by actual evidence.
Seriously, there's a difference. It doesn't work if you try to turn it around like that. There really is as much evidence for God as there is for a tuxedo on mars made of turkey feathers.

Once again, nothing can be proven to NOT exist. Not God, not Santa, not Bigfoot, not the Tooth Fairy.
It's up to the individual making the claim to support it with evidence. And theists have no evidence. Would it be reasonable for me to tell you there are invisible aliens controlling all the world leaders and since you can't disprove it, you have to believe it?

You can't prove a negative.
I can't prove that there are no and have never been any purple camels. I can point out that given genetics and coloration, that I am certain there have never been any purple camels. But unless I have complete knowledge of every camel in existence, then I can't *prove* that there are no purple camels.
Asking an atheist to prove that there is no God sounds like a rational argument, but really its not. It's pretty cheap and not as smart as it sounds. Really the burden of proof is on us theists.

Okay, then...You would say that Apollo isn't real, wouldn't you? Can you give me a "single scrap of evidence or valid argument" for the non-existence of Apollo?

It's not possible to prove a negative.
I can insist to you that an invisible orange dog is sitting in my lap and there is no way you could disprove it.
The person making the claim needs to provide the proof.

There is no way to prove or disprove god. But once you start adding characteristics to him like he's 3 entities in one and he's omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscience then it becomes easier to disprove that. And by the looks of it you don't like the answers you got so you resorted to ad hominem attacks. Grow up.
