At one time a few years back most resturants used what is called a bacon iorn, it was flat weight that pressed the grease out of meat while it was being cooked. As this devise became used less and less America became fatter. So do you think that if we began demaning this devise be used when cooking our bacon, sausage or even hamberger it would be of benefit to All.

After becoming disgusted with the bad tasting bacon at resturants I bought myself a bacon iorn because if like good tasting crisp bacon, and to my delight I am loosing weight. Now I know one is not suposed to eat bacon but the reallity is one will from time to time.

A very good point - and I agree it would reduce the fat in cooking (as you have discovered). It would be nice if resturants looked at their tequniques and made simple changes but since most are concerened more with cost and inspection (most cast iron is tricky at best to keep clean in a service atmosphere). If resturants were more careful to buy lower fat foods and served foods higher in flavor than fat America could eat out with less guilt.

First of all, the flat iron was not invented to squeeze the fat out, it was used to keep meats flat that curled up, like bacon. So there goes your theory. Also, when fat is cooked some of it liquifies, but most of it is solid, marbling the meat to help make it tender (hence the white stripes in the bacon). And some of the liquid that comes out is water, blood, etc. More people are eating fast food than there were during the fifties and sixties, because people knew how to cook and ate at home. We no longer work with our hands and we work with computers and do not burn up the calories like we use to in the 'olden' days'. Have a good day America!

If America is so over weight is not because people are eating bacon and sausage. Some people over eat and just don't eat right. Some people have a high metabolism some don't. I seriously doubt using this device is going to stop America from being over weight not many people have a strict diet of eating out. Moreover, eating bacon and sausage every day. So pretty much blew a hole in your theory.

Eating all that stuff will make you fat with or without a bacon iron. This country is a country of horrible eating overweight people. It's gross. Why do you think so many people die of heart disease?

I went to an amusement park yesterday and 70% of the people where overweight and stuffing french fries and pizza in their mouths. No iron will help.

"how fat and unhealthy can America get!?" "BURGER KING is releasing a BACON yes BACON sundae 2morrow?! ewwww?" Wow. Doesn't look like we're doing too well in education either, huh? I would eat it minus the bacon. I don't like bacon that much, and I really don't think it would go well with ice cream.
