Christians consider Sunday to be the first day of the week.
God comes first. All real Christians pray daily and as frequently as we feel the need/inclination to praise, talk with, listen to and thank God. We do not count our prayers or keep track of the number of times we pray. In the church of Christ, there are no ritualistic prayers and ritualistic restrictions for praying in the true Christian faith as long as the prayers offered are sincere, from the heart of the believer, and in keeping with the word of God as it is presented in the holy bible, meaning done in love and in obediance to a loving God, in the name of Jesus Christ. Every Christian thought and deed is to be influenced by the words of God, so bible studies are required at least twice a week and encouraged on a daily basis.

One of the commandments is to set aside one day away to rest and worship God. I think the day was originally Saturday but then it moved to Sunday. Not totally sure why though.
I believe we should thank God for everything. All the time. Though another problem Christians have is on Sunday they are totally into praising God, but during the week they get caught up in there lives and forget about Him. But we need to be praying and thanking Him all day long.

The Jewish Sabbath is actually on Saturday. When God spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, he said that Saturday would be the day of worship. Oral tradition supports this. On the seventh day God rested. It wasn't until Constantine set up the institution of the Catholic Church. The Romans hated the Jews and when Constantine converted to Christianity he change the date of the Sabbath to Sunday to help differentiate between the two. Another reason they changed it is because it is believed that Jesus rose from the dead on a Sunday and they changed it to commemorate the day.

Because Sunday was the day that Jesus rose from the grave. We do not praise Him and thank Him one day a week. I personally pray everyday and thank Him everyday. Church is just a way for us to get together and praise Him together and learn together. It is called fellowship. And it is very important. The importance of fellowship is talked about in God's Word. The Apostle Paul talked a lot about it in his letters to the churches.

Because that is the day my church holds services. No it's not enough to be a one day a week Christian. Our faith should be the center of our life. The Bible urges us to "pray without ceasing" -- We should acknowledge God in everything we do, our actions should bring glory to Him. A grateful heart is awesome, but why only once a week? If you love someone , you want to spend time with them every day.

Because someone somewhere sometime decided that "keeping holy the sabbath" meant showing up in a specific building. In the new testament Jesus makes it clear that church is not a building, and that prayer should be private (or for fundamentalists, in a closet). I for the life of me can't understand why orthodox Jews think that observing a "day of rest" involves walking up stairs instead of using an elevator or walking to the store instead of taking a car or bus?
It all stems from someones misinterpretation of someones mistranslation of someone favorite version of the Bible.
BE GOOD, ALL DAY, EVERYDAY.

As most people noted, the Bible commands us to meet once a week with other believers and worship together.
The apostle Paul started the habit of meeting on Sundays. He taught that it didn't matter exactly which day of the week that we met, as long as we picked one. The church meets on Sundays because Jesus arose from the dead on the first day of the week, as the holy scriptures tells us. So, by meeting on the first day of the week, we are honoring and celebrating the fact that Jesus came back from the dead on this day -- three days after his crucifixion.

the truth is that we go to church sundays to worship God and to fellowship with other christians. also because it is the sabbath which means the day fo rest. even though some people take it literall, teh day of rest doesn't mean to do nothing. it means to rest from your worldly life and get to know jesus a little better.
