I've had my items posted on Craigslist for awhile. I reposted them a few times so they are at the top of the list. Unfortunately, I have not sold a darn thing...not one thing
!!!! Many of the things I'm selling are household items like figurines, lamps, decorative pillows. Some things are even new and have not even been taken out of original packaging. The other things are very gently used, so it is not like I'm selling a pile of grease rags. When the ad first gets posted, I have lots of interest, but then no one ever follows through with the sale! Why would people even inquire if they are not serious? I'm so tired of dealing with idiots. Would I have better luck on Ebay. I thought about it, but I hate dealing with shipping, getting to the post office on time, and the possibility of idiotic people who can read leave me negative feedback. I really need the money, but should I maybe just give this stuff to charity. I just really hate not to get anything for it? What do you think?

All prices are extremely reasonable, under $5 most of them, just so many things that I would like to get rid of. I live in an apartment building, so a garage sale is not an option.

Craigslist- poorly structured and awkward for many people to navigate well. The sort of people who hang out there are generally not as serious as others.

eBay- currently overstuffed with worthless garbage and cheap imports, but still a powerhouse as an 'on-line garage sale' site. Try a book like 'eBay for Dummies' or 'Making Money on eBay' from the library before you start to learn the best way to run several ads there.

Amazon.com- my favorite for stuff you have that they sell, and they sell a lot of stuff! Their commission is a bit higher, but the refund you shipping costs, etc. I get a lot of sales here.

Garage sale- best for non-collectable stuff that is hard to ship, like lamps. Also good for not having to deal with shipping, etc. A single weekend sale and you are done- rest goes to Goodwill, etc.

If I were you, I'd look on eBay for the same kind of stuff you are selling and see what others are getting for it. Use those prices to figure if you want to hassle with it. Some stuff is really worthwhile this way, but a lot of stuff is just not worth as much as you think!

What you should do is price your items and place them on tables inside your garage. List a "garage sale" on Craigslist and you will have a ton of people show up. I think people are more comfortable to come to a garage sale than to step into someone's house or apartment. Your ad may sound like it is a scam or they just don't warrant driving across town. Have a garage sale. Post signs with arrows on the major streets near your street. You need to clean out the other junk you have at the same time. Clean out the junk = make some $$.

How about a yard sale? There are always people that love to spend there weekends looking at other peoples things. It's cheap and easy. Just put up a few signs, set out your stuff and sell. Good luck! You can run into just as many idiots on ebay and it is more time consuming.

That disturbs me slightly. All of the Bestbuys around here often have exceptional service. Bestbuy quite obviously has no business refusing your purchase. That's just insane because clearly the purpose of a "store" is to purchase things. And the fact that the manager was the one giving you all the grief about the situation is even more upsetting. You should call the Bestbuy corporation and report the incident.

What about a garage sale? How's your pricing?

Maybe the price is too high.

Anything will sell at the right price.
