It was once against the law for whites and blacks to marry. It was once against the law to have an abortion, there was a time when women could not own property or vote. I could keep going but maybe you got my point. I do not support illegal immigration or anything else illegal done by citizens with any status, but something needs to change.

Well curlyboy has us all down as racist. No matter what
you stand for nor who we are. Like the pot calling the kettle
black. Yes the laws need to be changed. I'm not for braking
the law. If someone needs a doctor quick I'm not above
speeding to get them there. No law ever got changed with
out decent. This is it. These people are willing to walk across
a desert to feed there family. Some even dying on there way.
Is anyone willing to do the same to keep them out? If a group
of people wants something, more than another group don't
want them to have it, who wins? The blacks broke the law
when they sat down in a white restraint, front of the buss,
drank from the wrong water fountain or used the white rest
rooms. You think it should still be that way? They got tired of
setting back and waiting for the laws to change so they
broke the law. How is this any different? Yes the blacks were
citizens. But most of all they were human beings just like
hard working people who want to be left in peace with food
on there table for there kids, shoes on there feet and a roof
over there heads. Now before someone attacks me for
being an illegal immigrant let me make it clear. I am
Cherokee, French and Scots Irish. I live well into the Eastern
part of what was once our Sacred hunting grounds. Why is
it so much easier to hate than to understand?

Oops, guess not supposed to answer since I'm NOT an illegal supporter, but I'm going ahead.
If an American breaks a law, they face penalties. Jaywalk, get a ticket and pay it. However, it was not illegal for that American to be there to break that law.
The cry that Americans commit crimes too is not a justification for illegals. Laws are in place for public good, to protect individuals as well as our nation as a whole. Every crime has a victim or potential victim. Speeding has the potential of property damage, injury or death if an accident occurs, for example although many consider speed limits inconvenient. Speed limits are for public good.
Immigration laws are for the good of our nation and citizens. They were not designed to benefit illegal aliens, but to permit a legal path to citizenship for legal immigrants.
Whether it is an illegal who entered by surreptiously crossing the border, a visa over-stayer, a tourist overstayer, or whatever circumstances that led to the illegal status, it is wrong. They all had a choice, either don't enter illegally or leave before status lapses. They made the wrong choice.
Honoring and enforcing law is the right choice.

If you look up The Old Right on Wikipedia you will find that his views fall in line with this. It is the Republicans and Conservatives who used to support a non-interventionist foreign policy while Democrats like Woodrow Wilson and FDR supported being militarily involved all over the world to make the world safe for Democracy. The new Republican party and the Neocons have changed the meaning of the word Conservative for many people. The fact that the Austrian School of Economics has been ignored by mainstream academia should be a plus, not a mark against it. Unless you think the economic policies of the last few decades have worked out well for us.

The point you make is 100% true. The justice of the peace in San Fran who married gays broke the law because he did not agree, it doesn't matter if his opinion is right or wrong his actions were against the law and he should have been fired. We do have a legal process to correct laws but until the law is changed it should still be enforced. I don't agree with smoking bans but I still do as they say because it is the law. A country that is without laws is a country that will ultimanitly fail and laws are only as good as the enforcement.

Apparently this logic is lost on a good many of the politicians in office especially Bush. Bush doesn't seem to care too much about breaking laws. He needs more soldiers to support his war the kids are wising up and not joining the military so maybe an influx of immigrants will help if they are legal.

there were once Jim Crow laws too...dont try to pass that every law is perfect and suits everyone the same way....look at the current immigration system, they stalled giving out greencards so what happens to the people who are waiting in line? They become illegal because their visa expired
Please look at the current legal ways and procedures and then you decide.

Do you speed when you drive? How about jaywalk. These are laws and I see them being broken all the time. I do it myself. I am not an illegal supporter, but people act as though entering illegal is the same as murder. It's wrong, but so is speeding and jaywalking!
