You have to wonder why the media only goes against Christian athletes. If Michael Vick was not a Christian would this even be an issue?

Good news everyone!

Michael Vick is under indictment because he BROKE THE LAW. Which has nothing to do with race, religion, or any other affiliation.

People have been making jokes about Jesse Jackson stepping in to defend Michael Vick. Now after seeing this question, it turns out it's not so much a joke. The religion card instead of the race card. Incredible.

No. I don't think so, the media would go against him as vigorously if he were a Muslim or a Jew. However, if he were a Muslim or a Jew he would be called a host of other lovely names in addition to being a sadistic, scum of the earth, animal abuser. All of that aside, it is most disturbing that there is actually a person walking this earth who would ask a question so ignorant and callous.

No , religion has nothing to do with it. And to those other hate-full answerers, Vick is not guilty of any crime. Do you ignorant people know the meaning of indictment??

Hello there. I hope we are talking about the same Michael VIck.

No to your question, I am sorry to say. As far as I know, he is under indictment because he is suspected of helping in organising illegal dog fights and maybe some other small stuff. He crossed federal borders in this, shall we say somewhat unchristian, activity, and that will cost him probably. One should think that athletes have lawyers if they are not capable to handle the more sophisticated loose ends of their personal lives.
If christians are supposed to organise dogfights, than he might be a martyr, but I do not think that is correct.

I want to add here that I try to refrain from personal attacks. I do not know this person, but somebody who organises dog fights (over a period of 6 years), should be sent to a re-education camp in North Korea. If he tries to get from under it because he thinks he is a christian, it should be in north North Korea.
Sorry, I nearly got emotional. Dog fights? Jesus!!

And I read here he was well paid as well. I know a few people who are breeding fighting dogs, they are silly, stupid and poor. But being rich and organising dog fights? Am I glad I am not a christian!

If you think the press is going more after christian athletes than after buddhist, muslim, pantheist or atheist athletes, it would be helpfull if you would give a few examples.
Anyway there are several possibilities.
ONE: you are slightly paranoid, do not worry, it happens more among people who think dog fighting is one of the seven works of mercy.
TWO: buddhist, muslim, pantheist or atheist athletes, have to say they are christians or they will get whipped by the press. You can compare it with politicians in your country: in order to get elected they have to say they are christians. I am sure they do not fool you!

Anyway, you have my blessing for trying.

I think you have been mislead because Mr. Vick is in trouble because he broke the law we as a society created. Some of us Wiccans were involved in the law making process so you cannot give this honor only to the Christians

Maybe the question you should be asking is
"why would a good Christian hurt one of god's creatures in such a cruel and unneccessary way?". Do we only go after Christian athletes, or....
are the "Christian" ones the one's getting into more trouble.
or....
since this country is mainly Christian, maybe there are just more Christian athletes period.

Michael Vick is not a Christian. What on earth has lead you to conclude that he is?

He might *say* he is, but his actions prove he is not.

LOL.

Maybe it's because Vick is a lying, scheming reprobate who uses his fame and money to get away with things the rest of us can't. And since when does illegal dogfighting have anything to do with Christianity?

No. He's under indictment because he's been linked to a crime against nature, plain and simple.
