i just got a new 98 custom and cleaned it all up... I didnt have any oil to use, and a paintball store told me that most oils arent good to use and grease is better because it will maintain its location longer and not dry out... well, figuring the o-rings are silicon, i used vaseline to lube it (i figure since its petrolium based, and ruber is from oil, good enough, plus it doesnt dry out), somewhere said i could also use 100% silicon if this wouldnt work, what would anyone suggest?

I'd stick with using either Hater Sauce or Slick Honey. They are available online or at paintball stores. They will also stick to the o-rings longer so you won't have to lube it as often. If you can't find either of those, any form of Dow33 would work.

I use exreme rage marker oil for my arsenal its really good, cheap, and it goes along ways. you can get it at just about any paintball store or at walmart i believe if you use a smart parts gun use SL33K grease for the gun. or whatever the manufacturer recommends for the specific gun. the extreme rage usually costs about $3-5 bucks not much but like i said it goes a ways. NEVER NEVER NEVER use WD-40 on paintball guns it will eat away at the o-rings rendering the gun useless.

you can lube up a 98 custom with pretty much anything so long as you do it. i had one last year for a while and its the most durable marker you can buy. i was using some cheap marker oil to keep mine lubed and it was worked perfectly.
