you say we choose not to "get it" in a snide way, like we are nothing but a bug on your shoe, yet when we ask you to try and understand why we love the lord, we are suposed to resect your beliefs. shouldnt that go both ways?

I do understand why you love the Lord and your religion. And you're right, it should go both ways. This is exactly why so many people need to read a science book and try to understand why people believe in evolution, instead of providing lies about it as "proof" (not to mention other religions, gays, etc.).

Hmm - I think you are choosing to get your version of religious belief ( or none at all) and that's just fine by me.

No one religion is perfect; we'll only reach closer to perfection when we start putting all the parts of the puzzle together - all the different aspects of all the world religions.

Hopefully people can get over the judgemental crap so when the time to make the puzzle comes, we aren't missing that one piece in a sofa cushion of holier than thou-ness.

Yes honey, but do you get it yet..?

If you were aware of the mainstream scientific principles and understandings that describe the natural world, that is to say, what is demonstrably really there, then you would have to reconsider your insular and narrow minded position on the matter, or, do as other christians do, and apply liberal amounts of denial, ignorance, and top it off with taylor made lies in order to make your magic sky fairy real to you..
You know it makes sense..

i've never said that, and i'd say that anyone who does is placing themself on a pedestal above other people - which at least, in a Christan sense, if that's what you are referring to, is probably not right (at the risk of judging them).
but i don't disrespect other's beliefs - it's not a question of "getting it" - it's a question of what feels right for you. i might hope that it would feel right for you too - but i wouldn't accuse someone of not getting it, in a way which implies inferior intelligence.

so...if i give other people that respect, i'd like it myself, becaue it's not fun whne people act as if i'm intellectually inferior FOR believing in God. It should be a personal thing - and debate about it is ok, but disrespect, from either "side" is not right.

All I ever ask is for you to learn instead of spouting misdirected dogma. Not just learn what your preacher says on Sunday morning but to learn what the bible says and why it says it. Who wrote it when and why. The answer that the apostles wrote it is wrong, the fact you do not know that speaks volumes. How can you convert others to a religion you have almost no clue about? How can you propose to speak on matters you do not know?
Arm yourself with knowledge before going into battle.

Cindy, there are many that are living in darkness. And when you are living in darkness you cannot see the TRUTH. In God's Word it says that one day everyone will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. But, it will be too late for many because they had denied too many times and their hearts were hardened.

No doubt this answer will bring many thumbs down, but like the Apostle Paul said " If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ."

Do you respect my love for Isis? My connection with Thoth? If you do and you can then I completely respect your belief. I give what I get. Ask any of my Christian friends

I'm not a Christian, Cindy, but I agree with you 100%. If you expect people to have respect for your beliefs, you ought to have respect for theirs. I see posts on YA from people on -both- sides who don't 'get it'.

Respect should go both ways, this much is true.

Also, I doubt that belief is a choice (for most of us)...

If you can "get" that we aren't just being stubborn about not believing and that belief cannot be forced, yes, we can get along fine.
