The dealer gave me a 20 day temp and now its about to expire on the weekend of my trip. They said its illegal for them to give me an extension but they painted this pretty picture on how we dont have to worry about nothing, "you'll get your plates on time"... Nothing yet. The temp expires on the 23rd, I bought the truck on the 3rd. I so hate this dealership. Paramus Chevrolet in Paramus NJ.. Stay far away from them.

It's not the dealers fault. Take your paperwork to the DMV and get plates.

Hi, I live in NJ and the best thing for you to do is pester the dealership for the plates. More often than not, they wait until they have a certain amount of paperwork before they make that trip to the DMV. It's not worth the time and manpower for just one item.

Don't let them tell you anything but when those plates are going to reach your hands. If you get stopped by the Police, make sure you have your paperwork on the car with you, so you can prove to them that you didn't make this up. Bother them everyday if you have to.

Not sure how it works in NJ but every State I have lived in, you need the title (temporary or permanent) to obtain your plates. Then YOU go and get the plates at the DMV. I would suggest calling the DMV and ask them how to solve the problem.
