What, teh egg just appeared out of this air?
something had to lay the egg first, therefore I think the chicken came first. Most probably it has evolved from something, I would suggest from a monkey, since they were here before, and if you kinda look closely, theres a slight similarity beween the two(they both have not very visible ears)
Or mabe by chance a chicken hatched out of a dinosaurs egg(init that the real reason they became extinct?)
Conclusively, that would mean that chickens got here before man, but that monkeys and dinosaurs were there even before then, which means that chickens probably killed off the dinosaurs, and that the egg apeared sometime in between the dinosaur and the chicken, after the ape and therefore before the human. Dint anyone see that movie, whazzit called, 'Planet of the Apes'? Theres so much to learn from these nature documentaries

I'd say it was the egg.
I think through evolution, whatever that had the egg, was not a chicken to start off with. It would have probably resembled the chicken, maybe had a few of its features, but slowly it would change as it produces its offspring, so the egg would be the next step to the evolution of the actual chicken.

the egg came first
in evolution, the time when a creature evolves is when it is being developed,
in the chicken's case, it evolves while inside the egg,
so the first chicken, or first group of chickens, evolved while inside their eggs, and the parents of the first chicken or group of chickens were not a fully fledged chicken,
but their child was.
therefor the egg came first

The chicken. they proved it in an article in a newspaper ages ago. Turns out that when the chickens first laid eggs, the chicks were born in a membrane (much like some animals today) but as the risk from predators increased, the membranes gradually became harder and firmer until eventually the first egg was laid.

It is actually the egg..... because in actual fact chickens are a fairly modren creature on the earth. This sounds silly but if you think about it... there werent any chickens when there were dinosaurs were there?
Different types of birds eventually evolved into a chicken. So it was in fact the egg....

a chicken evolved from something that was not quite a chicken. This "not quite a chicken" creature that I speak of, once laid an egg, this egg turned into the worlds first chicken!!!
(Eggs have been around long before chickens anyway. Dinosuars laid eggs didn't they?)

creatures evolve, and most lay eggs, something (website doesn't state) layed the egg and when it hatched, out came a chicken. chickens are fairly new, there weren't any around when dinosaurs roamed, so different types of birds evolved. in conclusion, the egg did infact come first.
