Like - if you care about people - then why wouldnt you care about what they thought of you - like if ti was your family or significant other?

Yes, it does. Although it's not logical, this person is trying to say that they are unswayed by public opinion.
What this person said is a pseudo-truth... it sounds good, but has no basis in fact. All humans crave love and attention, and it is part of our essence to care about what others think of us.

Yes it makes sense, they care what happens to people. Don't want them hurt, sad etc. Could careless if they don't agree with certain things about themselves.

it makes sense to me...
I say that all the time to people, " I care about you, but I dont care about your opinion"...
The person who is making this comment is clearly stating, that regardless that they care for the person, but their life choices are theirs to make and no one elses

Yes it makes sense.
This person cares about the people around them, like he/she would help them if they needed help with something or would be there for them to talk to, etc.
But he/she wouldn't care what others thought about what he/she was doing with his/her own life.

well if he said like umm i do not care what people think of me i would say that i think of him every day and i will see what he would say to me

its just tht this guy cares abt the ppl but he does watever he wants or thinks is rite in life...and doesnt care abt wat ppl think wen he does this.....his life is his own and not other's

it sounds like that person doesnt have a high moral for themselves, but they would put others first.
