I've received parcels etc from china, and fomr some very remote areas. My address with some mistakes, has mostly been written in english and has always got to the united kingdom, I can not see why it shouldn't work the other way.

Yes, if you write the address as it is given to you in English or Pinyin they will be able to read it. There are people at the post office who are translators of addresses, they figure out the address and then write the proper characters on the letter so the mailman can deliver it.
Sorry, I don't know about Greece or Russia but I would think they would have even less of a challenge.

Good question! I used to write to my girlfriend when she was at University in Russia for the year. Her address was written down in the Russian alphabet. She always said that she knew a letter was either from her mother or me - as it looked as if a 5 year old had written it!

right it extremely is a question spectacular back at you... are you able to write it in chinese language? for many non-chinese language human beings, writing in chinese language is extremely confusing. in case you could, then of direction that's greater suited to place in writing it contained domestically language... it may help the placed up workplace workers in China, as they does no longer could hit upon a translator, and it may probable make the letter lots faster. And, sure, you're able to placed the call of the country and probable city, a minimum of in English, regardless of in case you could write chinese language. That way, the letter would be placed with the aid of the English-speaking placed up workplace workers onto a flight to the main suitable city in China. I even have been residing in china for 5 years now, and persons in lots of cases deliver me letters (From the united states of a and from Europe)... they write the completed handle in English, and the letters arrive. slow, yet they arrive. and that i even write letters to them, with the handle in English, and that they arrive... i hit upon the postal device to be even slower whilst sending letters out of China. interior of China, for some unusual reason, they like to place in writing the city on actual and then line with the aid of line placed greater element, that's the alternative way of what we are used to. however the letters sent to me use the properly-known format in English, so no concerns.

Maybe not, but there are usually translators working in the same space that know what the heck your address says.
