There may be some strange ocean curents at work, shifting weather patterns all around the globe. But British weather has a habit of balancing itself out. This is the flip side of having a very mild winter, and a very warm and sunny April. There will come a time later on, when the weather is abnormally sunny and warm for the time of year.
Last year, the spring March and April were cool and wet, but then June and July were hot and dry. August was cooler and quite rainy, but September and early October was sunny and warm. There is your balancing out.
How do we change the weather? When the entire country gets together, and we visualise a lovely anti-cyclone landing on top of us, bringing us warm, sunny and clement weather (not to mention deep blue skies) for August, September and October.

Don't blame global warming, England has always had terrible weather. I'm not sure if the dismal weather is to match the bleeding arrogance of the culture or if you're just rather far north. Perhaps something about being far north and on the south bound side of the ocean currents(when it's coming from the Artic) makes you develop that stiff upper lip.
Ha, I love England.

it's madness!!!
i dropped my son at nursery and then tried to drive home......
the rain had blocked the road to our house and it was a mad panic to get to the house to check all was well. ended up wading in KNEE HIGH!!!!!????? water to our home which, thank god was OK.
the area ended up with police and firemen trying to assist residents to their homes.
the weirdest thing about this, is that we are just north of London and on, so called high ground.
i think this year the summer will last well into October and when the sun does (???????) come then it'll be very, very hot.
