It is difficult to appraise firearms without seeing them. What kind of shape is it in? Is it complete? Does it still shoot. Has it been altered or re-finished? Who used to own it (someone famous)?

It could be a twenty dollar wall-hanger or a thousand dollar antiquity. Realistically, probably a lot closer to the low end.

Best.

I would think that if it is a flint lock, it may be somewhat older than 150 years. Although there were plenty of flintlocks around in 1850, percussion models had pretty much taken over.

Your best bet is to take it to an antique appraiser. It may cost you something but you will have a copy of the appraisal and an idea of its value. I wouldn't jump at the first offer especially if it is in very nice shape.

Wrong section. Contact an antique appraiser.
