I'd give it a few months before you go back. Plagues are iffy things and God, in any of His three Christian aspects, has never been known for being careful about collateral damage.
The sketch looks like a much shorter adaptation of Terry Pratchett's "Small Gods."
Roman Catholics, of course, will always take the pronouncements of the Pope over those of Jesus, even in His presence. I mean, He's just God, what does He know?
