I'm not looking for a fast way to handle this. I know this stuff takes time. I get him to open up in spurts and it is always a great conversation when he does. I feel like he has a lot to say, but has a difficult time in breaking down to say it. I know he cares, but sometimes it's still hard. I just figured I'd ask.

Hello my friend... this is kinda frustrating isn't it? You have to decide will he open up over time or is he really just a private person? You probably already have a good idea why he might be so private, but you are wondering what it'll take for him to open ip more to you? Being as social and open as you are, is it gonna be an issue long term?

All I can say, is that my wife is a pretty private person, but from day one I was someone she could share anything with. She was able to tell me all kinds of stuff she had never shared with anyone before. Me, I am a total open book, I put it all out there and she likes that too. So my point, I think that if after a short time you'll see trust or you won't. If you'd don't then its time to reassess some things.

That's my 2 cents!

Dan

I know you want the fast way, but there is no fast way to opening up someone who takes things slow and from a distance. You can trust me when I say it takes A LOT of patience to open someone like that up. They will tell you things as they come and when they are comfortable.

Because I have had someone like this and to know them is one of the greatest pleasures! I find/found it fun to learn something new everyday. These kind of people are the ones who could and will really value you as a person for taking your time to get to know them. You will know when their timid nature becomes a problem. But if you really like them, you have to be willing to sacrifice your time and build up some patience for them.

Only fools rush in. Just keep doing what you do to get those great conversations.

It's good that you can get him to open up. Just keep doing what you're doing because it seems to be working. More often than not, us guys don't really want to talk about the way we feel.

Just let him feel comfortable when he's talking. Try to talk more on the topic that you want to discuss and ask what he thinks about it. Make him see how at ease you are with him as well and that he can confide in you.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

He may think he has things to hide he doesn't want you to know about. Or, he may feel if he opens up to you that he has a greater chance of getting hurt by you if things ever go sour. The longer you stay with him, the more will be revealed, since trust will build.

Just keep giving him words and gestures that it is ok for him to be himself. Your right it does take time but in time look for signs that it might not ever change. Been there, done that.

You don't. He is what he is. He may try to please you, but then it isn't the guy you fell for.
