I am trying to compile a list of all these tips for my students, who are mostly seniors and never learned right click usage.

You can go to Settings --> Mouse --> buttons and choose what the buttons (left or right) mean.

Meanwhile, tell them:
(1) The right button is ALWAYS important for FINDING OUT about things (Properties) no matter Where you're hovering! That's perhaps its most important use!

(2) MAYBE but not necessarily the second most important use is that, sometimes (files), when you drag and drop an item with the RIGHT mouse button, you get the choice of COPYing OR MOVING instead of just MOVING. - very helpful!

(3) The third most important idea is that the right mouse button, instead of acting right away, gives you a MENU of actions to take, so you can be purdy calm and easy about clicking it, and breathe easy, not to fear. This above all should help newbies!

My three are:

1) Right click and Select All followed by right click Copy (handy for text documents you need to copy)

2) Right click and Open With (good for associating new file types with a specific program or opening a file with a program other than the default such as opening in Real Player instead of WMP)

3) Right click and Save (or Save As)

You can use it to go back and forward, to copy and paste: and to save or copy images.
