I think that you would enjoy the Message Bible. I personally like NIV study Bible. But Message Bible is the easiest to read.

There's a bible version called "The Message". It's written in dialogue like a novel, except it's non fiction.

If you want to read the *whole* bible, I have to disagree with all previous suggestions. Many versions are "abridged".
Here's two unabridged: http://www.allbibles.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=1585160210&eq=&Tp=&Bc=CE - very easy to read
http://www.allbibles.com/items.asp?Bc=NB&Cc=BIBCZRB&Tp=&BrandName=New+American+Bible&CatName=Catholic+Text+and+Reference+Bibles - any of these, not quite as easy to read as the CEV and translated by RCC (which may mean some bias - though it is highly regarded among many non-RC scholars).
These are the best complete easy-to-read bibles.

You could try a New International version. They are easier to read, without all the silly oldy worldy type lingo.

Seriously, go for a King James as it's the best of all. I've been using one for 40 years
