And I think I may have appendicitis but not sure. Per WEBMD, I have 90% of the symptoms but I don't have insurance and have not been to the doc yet. The ER is going to cost a FORTUNE.....any ideas where I should go?

Health department is free or very very low cost. and there are free clinics as well. share care is a program to assist with medications as well. But health dept. for minor problems is fine, is you have problems with your appendix though, you need the emergency room, the hospital is the only one that can operate if needed, they can not refuse treatment and you can pay on payment plans, a little each month or go to DSS and ask for medicaid, they go back retro and pay bills as well, if you qualify. If you are truly concerned that you have appendicitis, then I would just go to the ER at your nearby county hospital. Even if you are seen in an outside free or pro-rated clinic, they will refer you to the emergency department for a surgical evaluation. If you truly have appendicitis, you will require surgery, which will not be cheap either. However it is better then having your appendix rupture which will result in an even longer hospital stay, assuming you survived.

If you have other health concerns, many major cities have free or pro-rated clinics available for people without insurance or access to regular medical care. I would start by trying to contact your county health department to see if they have a list of clinics that might be available in your area.

When you go to the emergency room they will send a billing person around at some point. Inform that person you have no insurance and they will likely put you in touch with a Social worker there at the hospital who will see if you qualify for Medical Assistance .
Even if you do not qualify they have funding set aside for these things. Just be sure if they do treat you and give you prescriptions and you can not afford to have them filled that you are upfront and honest with them.
Let them know you just do not have the coverage or money to get them filled at that time. They can usually either fill them there for free(program called indigent patient fund) or send you to a local community action agency who will work with a local pharmacy who will fill it for free.
The hospital in most cases will cover them They will Not however cover any pain meds you must cover that yourself. Antibiotics and any other medication they do cover.
In the case of pain medication they can give you a couple to help till you can get it filled the next day.

Go to your local hospital ER. They have to see you regardless of your ability to pay the bill
