I think it is good to explore different denominations. But, while you are at it, make sure you are exploring all of it... not just the church service. Really look into their teachings and their beliefs. Things may look the same on the surface, but there are some big differences! There are lots of good resources out there and I'm sure if you asked each of the pastors of those churches they would love to help you understand their point of view.
We actually did this over the summer between 7th and 8th grade with our confirmation class. We spent time studying other religions and denominations, and even attending services. Our pastor and the elders felt that is was very important we really believed what we were confessing when we were confirmed. And the only way to do that was to explore what was out there.
Our current pastor is doing the same thing with my daughter's class.

You can do better than exploring other religions,or you might give up like tebone0315 did that way is timeconsuming and ineffective, what is effective is to explore God's word the Bible, there you will find out what to look for in a religionyou should not go to a church because others of your family or friends do, but because you know it's true.So take the advice from God in the Bible and not any other person.

I think u did not understand what ur father is really conveying to u.
What he is trying to convey to u could be that keep ur mind open.
Generally when we follow a religion though it may have excellent values we tend to narrow ourself to a smaller boundary as the followers dont know how to be a ocean ie limitless.
To be limitless is acceptance of all, the good, bad, evil, angel , life or non-life.
Simplest thing is follow what ur heart says and be like a new born child.
A new born child does not know what it is(Human or animal), What religion it is or what country or what language or whatever other identification, then that smile in its face melts even the most ferocious heart. That love.

By different religions, maybe you should consider looking at some non-Christian religions. The ones you named are all just different versions of what is basically the same thing. Try going to a temple, a synagogue, a mosque, and really branch out. How about an old fashioned pagan drum circle?

I explored many religions and churches and then gave up cause I could never find one that preached the truth of the bible and could never feel the presence of God,and followed my own path for years. Then God led me to His church, The Catholic Church, and I have found in the Catholic church that they preach and teach the truth of the bible, and I can actually feel the presence of God in the Catholic Church.

You should take the time to find out what you actually believe then find a church. Don't pick your religion based on what your friends or family do.

Knowledge in all its forms is good. The worst that could happen is that you open your mind to other ways of thinking about things.
