Hey, here's my angle. Everybody is absolutely equal. If a Christian were to say to me I should drop my faith and join him, I would thank him, but reject his offer. If he were then to say that my beliefs were rubbish, then in all fairness and equality, I could walk from that scene knowing that his beliefs are as respectful as mine.
If mine are rubbish, then so are his.
If there are people out there who believe Harry Potter is true, then well...
um...
hey, it's fine by me. Each to their own. I have no less respect for them.
I mean, there are people who believe the Bible's true. Is there any difference?
If I believed in Harry Potter as a messiah of some kind, and worshipped a DVD rack (lmfao), that would be my religious choice. And no less real to me than Jesus is to Christians, or Mohammed is to Muslims.
I have friends who follow the Jedi religion, of all things. It's all in the choice, and nobody should be ridiculed.
And as for having faith in believers, I totally agree, there seems to be a lack of trust within some religions.
May peace go with you throughout your life.

Christians must not have any fun, because fun is a sin. Didn't you know that?
Just kidding of course! I think Christians can have lots of fun. As a bonus they can remember it the next day and not have guilt.
To answer your first question, intelligence doesn't seem to be a requirement to get into Heaven. That's a good thing! There are brilliantly smart Christians and there are mentally disabled Christians and everything in between.
Some Christians believe in the Easter Bunny too. My son does even when I tell him it's pretend!
Thanks for a light hearted question for Friday. Have a good weekend!

We don't like the witchcraft shown in Harry Potter...even if it is portrayed in a "silly" fashion. We are told to stay far away from even the appearance of evil..and I think this is a good example.
The reason you don't find it offensive, is because it conforms to your belief system and supports what you think is true.

I watched part of one Harry Potter movie and wondered if true witches feel offended by the silliness contained in these stories...how can anyone take them seriously?

I'm guessing that they know the story is fiction but they still fear that their kids will decide to try witchcraft or something and wil be lost to the devil - or some such nonsense.
It's the same reaction they have to exposing their kids to any other lifestyle or belief.

In all truth, it has nothing to do with that.
It is merely that they dont want people interested in anything other than church. The eventual goal is to only listen to Christian music, only read Christian books, only go to Christian movies, etc.
Bacha, 'fundie' means Fundamentalist. It is self applied term for certain Christian groups. Dont speak if you dont know what youre talking about. They chose this term for themselves!

I think witches and gay people have always been the favorite people for fundamentalists to bash, even though they have antique, out-dated, incorrect ideas about both of them.
It's completely stoopid, of course.
My sister is one of the "born agains" and at first she wouldn't let my neice and nephew read Harry Potter because Preacher Bubba told her it would make them want to worship Satan.
I reminded her that she and I grew up watching "Bewitched" every week for all of our childhood and neither of us became Satan worshippers.
I don't know if my remark helped, but she recently decided Harry Potter was harmless and that my nephew/neice could read them if they wanted to.
I hope Pastor Bubba don't find out.

I am sure most know it is for fun, but some people take things seriously that others don't, and then get way off.
