How can that be when the people are reading from books and partaking in witchcraft in the movie. So if your watching the film obviously you condone what they practice and teach in the film. Many children would not understand why they couldn't make believe they were witches and use wands etc...but they're family allows them to watch Harry Potter, which enforces magic and sorcery.

How can you say its different to practice sorcery, but yet you watch people who do? Your just the same as them, they wouldn't make shows about sorcery and magic if they knew people wouldn't come to see it.

Can I ask you a question? Do you watch movies or television with cursing, drinking, sexual immorality, homosexuality, murder, lying, disrespect of elders, and so on? These are all sins as well, and not to be condoned by believers.
I have been a Christian for a long time, I love the Harry Potter series and find it extremely well written and entertaining.
It stops there. I don't believe you should be practicing sorcery or messing around in the occult. However, these books and movies are simply entertainment. It is a work of fiction. These movies are a lot cleaner than most entertainment out there!
Do you watch Lord of the Rings? There is not much difference between that and Harry Potter. Yet a lot of Christians willingly embrace LOTR because it was written by a Christian.
There is no difference, it is the classic movie of good vs. evil. If Harry Potter were fighting for the dark side than maybe I wouldn't be so quick to defend.
I do believe that if your children are very impressionable with that sort of thing and find it hard to differentiate between reality and make believe then you should probably skip it.
Also, did you grow up being read fairy tales like Peter Pan, Snow White, or Cinderella? Were you told about Santa Claus or the tooth fairy?
Just giving you something to think about.
With all that said, if you have a strong conviction about not reading the books or seeing the film, then God has impressed that on your heart. To you it is sin. Just remember that not everyone is going to have your same conviction.

Look, It may seen like witchcraft but its a movie. The people that make these harry potter movies make up the spells names, the teachings, and all that stuff. It's fake witchcraft because it a movie. Any thing that is from these types of movies are not real.

The children will be ok, just don't let them do the real thing. But the things from the harry potter movies are fake. It's just movie magic

"So if your watching the film obviously you condone what they practice and teach in the film."

WHAT???

That's patently false.

And if kids can't tell the difference between real life and the movie world, EXPLAIN IT TO THEM. That's why parents are there, to tell kids what's real and what's pretend.

There's nothing wrong with the Harry Potter series. If anything, it's a book about the battle between good and evil, and Harry is on the side of GOOD!! What Christian would object to that?

Christians shouldn't watch any thing to do with witchcraft like Harry Potter because, just like you said, it is like if you are accepting what the movies are saying.

Besides, the only reason why witches have such power, is because Satan gives it to them, and helps them out throughout his demons.

Why else do you think that Harry Potter films are so popular? They have the approval of Satan and his demons. Anything that can draw peoples' attention away from God, he give his full approval and helps those things to succeed.

Christians should be free to read anything they want.

With regards to stories that include themes of witchcraft, the Harry Potter series is a harmless as the "Wizard of Oz", "The Lord of the Rings", "Macbeth" and even "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"

We Christians can't go about our lives not reading anything that troubles us. Literature is filled with murder, infidelity, crime, sex. We'd be very poorly educated people if we censor oursleves or allow others to censor for us.

Will watching movies make us evil? Will listening to certain types of music make us evil? Will wearing certain clothes make us evil? Will certain video games make us evil?

Perhaps a better question, would avoiding these practices merit Heaven?

If you are going to put your faith in yourself, then think of all the "causes" you want that will put you in Heaven or Hell. None of them hold water. God is the one to change the heart. We were not created to be blown around by the winds of Hollywood and Church, we are not a throwing of the spiritual dice to see where we ultimately land. Nor are the dice "weighted" to accommodate a plan that looks to be our wills but is ultimately nothing more than a cheated game.

Watch Harry Potter for the imaginary world that it is. Listen to the music that you love. Read the books that make your heart pound. Wear the clothes that describe who you are. Play the video games that show your skill. Or not, if you are so led. God is in charge, not Harry.

lmao, you obviously have never spoken to a witch nor studied anything to do with witchcraft to know that Harry Potter has nothing to do with real witchcraft.. it's ALL fantasy.. there isn't one thing about Harry Potter that is witchcraft.
No one is in any danger whatsoever from reading or watching Harry Potter.. real witchcraft and sorcery isn't something you'd understand with a mind as closed as yours anyway.

It's fiction that is not a reflection of real witchcraft. It's waving a wand and saying Latin words. They're fun stories that don't "condone" anything except for using your imagination.

If you'd read the books, you'd see that they are full of themes us Christians can get behind: good verses evil, the power of love, importance of friendship, family, loyalty, perseverance, etc.

Harry Potter promotes witchcraft as much as the poppy seed scene(in The Wizard Of Oz) promotes drugs.

Because its MAKE BELIEVE! Good freaking greif. Pick something worth throwing a fit over like the homeless and abused kids. With all the pain an suffering in the world you're worried about a book that even witches will tell you is make believe. Grow up.
