Some places have ordinances about not buying pets in your yard. We buried both our cats there without a problem. Dig as deep a hole as you can then cover the animals fur with a think layer of gardening lime. This will help speed decomposition and repress odor. If your cat will put to sleep by injection it is doubly important that you make sure no other animal will be able to access the cats body as they could be harmed.

Though back yard burial is not legal, it is not often an enforceable offense. But if you move, then what? How will you preserve the sanctity of your pet's final resting place?

but if you do choose to bury it in the back yard The Virtual Pet Cemetery on the World Wide Web. The Virtual Pet Cemetery gives us the opportunity to offer a tribute to our pets. You may write a eulogy and preserve it in virtual reality, complete with photographs, at no charge, published at the discretion of the page's owner.

Yes, very deep though so neighbourhood pests don't smell it and dry to dig it up. Perhaps wrap the cat in an old towel, then plant a flowering bush like a bleeding heart bush on top to remember. I'm sorry for your loss.

Assuming your cat passed away, yes.

I've done that for a day old kitten I named Little One. Just bury it at least 4 or 5 feet at least.

Yep, just bury him/her deep enough so that nothing can dig the cat up. That would be very sad.

Ask your local vet, because some communities don't allow that in their subdivisions, so look into it first.

I think it's illegal most everywhere. Many people do it. No one is going to check up on you about it so do it anyway if that is your choice.

Unless there are by-laws against it, of course you can, but please bury kitty very deep. Sorry about your loss.
