It depends on who you are. Most active duty military I still talk to say yes. The anti-war folks say not. It depends entirely on your point of view. I would go with the troops and those who are serving there myself, but that is just me.

It sure as hell has kids asking my mom (who is a civilian doctor, married to a Marine) "Ma'am Why doesn't Congress care about us? Are they going to leave us out to dry without the proper weapons?" That is what pisses me off. A bunch of 'oh gosh, election time, make a statement you think will work'.
Not only does it help kill our troops morale, it also emboldens the terrorists because they are seeing "America" not backing their own troops.

Yes and No, the war effort has been a media driven enterprise for the last 4 to 5 years. There always seems to be something about it in the news everyday. History has always repeated itself and this war is a sure example of what happened in Vietnam. Vietnam started in the Mid- 1960's and didn't officially end until 1975. But for an Army to be successful in the eyes of our government, our troops need to be combat ready. I personally hate this war because there is no sense of purpose or no real reason to it. I have not heard a real answer from anyone about the reasons.

Tactically and strategically this plays into the terrorists hands and gives them the defacto victory as defined in 4th Generation Warfare.
I view the political commentary currently taking place in a very harsh light. One cannot give aid and comfort to the enemy and then say "But, I support the troops" and get a free pass.
It is just sickening. In the future we will fight these terrorists on our home soil. I hope you remember who caused that when it happens.

Big time. And, it demonstrates the ignorance of senators like Clinton who have no clue as to the extraordinarily negative affect they are having on our soldiers and Marines and the extraordinarily positive affect they are having on our enemies. And liberals the nation over will deny that reality.
What's perhaps more disturbing and equally amazing is that they've been undermining our efforts in this way since the day they voted to begin this conflict. It would boggle the mind if folks didn't understand the liberal's motives in this whole affair.
Hillary got ***** slapped and deserves far worse.

Absolutely and the fact that they havent learned their lesson from past experiences is sad. Why doesnt the pentegon want to share the details of their withdrawal plan even in private? Because congress has proven inept (at least unwilling) to keep national security secrets secret. If they understood their role as public servants a little better they might be able to be trusted but when everything is about what will get them elected again...

I wouldn't say it hurts the war effort, but to some extent it emboldens them. We have domestic issues that need to be solved; leave the war to the military.

We don't have a "war effort" because Congress never declared war. In this case, the legal distinction matters a great deal.
And Congress is doing their job by deciding what to fund -- thats one of their primary obligations under Article I Section 8 of the Constitution.
So, while they are doing a lousy job, the job is one they are supposed to be doing.
And no, it doesn't embolden the terrorists to think about actually going after the terrorist around the world. Which is something we can't do when we're wasting our time in Iraq. But that's beside the point -- nothing we do emboldens the terrorists -- that's a meaningless phrase because the terrorists are fanatics -- they're already as bold as they're going to get.

Yes, it does.
Didn't the Congress approve the surge? Part of the surge was to have a progress report in September, so why can't they stick to the plan?
I'm so tired of the flip-flopping, anti-Bush approach of the Dems.
Reps may be bad, but the Dems do not have a single good quality....

It is the Iraqui population to blame. If they would have appreciated their new chance and gave up the insurgents instead of harboring them, we would have no troops killed and their country would be like Disneyland by now.
Instead they acted like the slimballs they are and we should ditch out and say, "That's what you get for helping the bad guys"
