Christians don't believe in Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, Thor, Athena, Gaia, Minerva, Dionysus, Ceres, Vishnu, Shiva, Rama, Phaethon, Odin, Mummu, Juno, Hermes and countless other gods that have been worshipped by humans. Why should an atheist suddenly lose his moral compass and reason for living simply by adding one more demonstrably false god to the list?

Well, I see your point, but according to popular belief about the way God works, people have and had faith in God, so he existed and exists. Back in Athens and Sparta, people believed in the ancient Gods of Mount Olympus, so in theory, those Gods existed.
Maybe we cause Gods to exist. Who knows? Maybe the universe is just a giant Democracy, few have some power, but the people hold the final ruling power.
Maybe not.
I'm still a religious person though and respect your right not to believe in God, despite the fact that I disagree with it.

If you believe one god you are t atheists -to be specific monotheists. In fact, even religions believing in multiplicity of gods in fact are monotheists since they believe that the various gods are only the forms of a sing le deity. Now an atheist is one who does not believe the very concept of a god and stands on a different footing.

Nope. According to an atheist on a post here a few minutes ago they don't believe in God but in themselves. Their god is themselves. But of course other atheists don't believe this. They have another definition for atheist. Hmm, never the same definition.

Yes, if you take a rough estimate of the number of gods (say about 8,000) it means monotheists are 99.9875% atheist.

No, you are monotheistic.
Perhaps atheists don't believe in any god because they are afraid of admitting that they are not in sole control?
